buyer's manners

Right. I thought that was messed up too. It's like as long as the customer is cool, he gets the best deal, but if they are an asshole, they get screwed. Sounds like a bunch of crooks for salesmen to me. No wonder they get bad reps. People try to play games because car salesmen are for the most part crooks and everybody knows it. Same with mechanics. Real honest ones are hard to come by.

The folks who ended up with the best deals were the ones who came in, discussed what they wanted, and didn't try to play games.[/QUOTE)

So, the car salesmans' reputations came from SOME customers who came in and tried to 'play' them. The rest of us who were honest, straight forward customers got the 'best' deals? Somehow I don't think so. Ever read Wheels? My experience comes from over 30 years owning a retail business where I dealt with my customers on a fair and honest basis. Yes, I had blowhard know-it-alls come in now and then, but I was just as courteous to them and didn't try to out play them because they were trying to play me. I do agree that those customers sometimes had me muttering to myself, but you either deal with all people honestly or you don't. Your business can either flourish or suffer accordingly. Just another opinion in a sea of them. I'm still with MikeyT.

duh
the seller would know
because after a period of time i would of asked where are the pics?
did you forget me?
or would you not be smart enough to figure that EASY one out?

what i don't get is your selling something
and you feel sending pics is doing someone else a big favor?
and you get mad when your not thanked for it?
cut me a break!
should i also have to kiss your *** and beg to have the oppertunity to
buy something from you also?

pics help THE SELLER more then a buyer and they can make or break a sale.

good pics can put more money in your pocket
for a little investment of time
it is a great tool to HELP SELL your item.
lack of pics will hurt you alot more then help
unless your hiding ugly!

too bad most sellers are too lazy to take time before they list a item
to have plenty of pics ready to go!
instead they will wait until thier asked for them making it a self created
inconvinence they want to be thanked for..

if you sell something, you should already have
alot of pics before you even list the item
that way it is not any kind of chore or going out of your way to send them!

like i said
i thank people for thier time
when i ask for the pics to begin with.. manners done

i don't reply back if i do not like the item or if the pics
just suck outright.
wish i had a dollar for everytime i got crap pics..
i don't even bother asking for more.
why bother,its like pulling teeth
most of the time it saves me from insulting the seller telling him his junk is overpriced
or it is in worse condition then i expect...
i'm sparing your feelings beating up your opinion...manners done again

Well, I went back and read your original comments and what I responded to. All you state above has NOTHING to do with your first post. All the blah blah about getting pictures was not part of your original post about this and has no bearing here. Stick to the original comments I responded to with your original quote.

Send him another e-mail asking him if he is going to buy the car or just wants to collect pictures. Tell him point blank you took the time to send them to him, the least he could do is send a thank you back. I've done the same thing when somebody calls my phone and they hang up when I say hello when they realized they called the wrong number. I'll call that number back and tell the other person it was rude to just hang up without an apology at least.

Back in the early days of caller ID, I once dialed a wrong number. There was an answering machine, and when I realized the mistake, I just hung up. Saw no reason to leave a message. I got a call back from the wrong number a couple of minutes later. A bitchy woman DEMANDED to know who I was and why I called her! Her attitude pissed me off. I told her it was just a mistaken call to a wrong number and she needed to get over it. And I did NOT apologize to her!

I've actually got sick of dealing with buyers as well. I always respond to people and let them know if I am NOT going to buy their car. Obviously if I buy it, they know lol. I have had a lot of people tell me they will buy cars from me and then I never hear from them again.

Helped one guy out by making a payment plan with him (car stayed at my house til it was paid off). 6 months later with him only paying $300 (only made one payment) and a remaining balance of $5700, I told him to forget it. Thankfully I had paperwork signed by him saying what he would pay every month and if he didn't make any payments for a certain amount of time he was out the car and all money deposited.

She was probably having a bad hair day anyway.

Before I bought my car I drove thousands of miles and spoke to hundreds of people by internet and on phone, the hunt has taught me that most items are not what the seller is telling you and it has cost me time and money to view. I have travelled from Tampa to Quaker town PA, to Volo ill only to be disappointed, I have grown accustom to being disappointed in the hunt of parts and cars. Please prove me wrong every one thinks their items are made of gold. Thats my two cents.

It is not just the buyers, I made a deal with a member for a console, he was asking $300, he said $250 and it's yours...I said sold. I tried to arrange a few pick up times but he said he would not be there, so Sunday was the day he said he would be home. He said call me at 11:00 or 12:00. I emailed him at 10 and asked if I could come up earlier. I get a email back a few minutes later "Sorry Guy here like I said just bought".....never did he say someone else wanted it nor did I get a heads up after he agreed to sell it to me...
Not looking for sympathy here but I have to go into the hosptal Monday for Canser related issues and was really looking forward all week to get this console, it took my mind off things..just to have it sold out from under me for what...maybe an extra $50...stupid thing is he had more parts I was interested in as well.
My point to everyone is if you can't be taken at your word...what the hell are ya...you make a deal stick to it...money is not everything.
Sorry for venting but I am so pissed it is not funny.

Yup. I had something sold out from under me, then got piled on for posting about it as a warning to others about the seller. That'll be the last damned time I warn the members of this site about anything. Mark my words.

I am not saying the name of the guy because it was an item listed on Kijiji, but he is a member here...which pissed me off even more...we are better than that...lets help each other out that is what it is all about....not the all mighty buck..

I totally agree with you. Once I tell someone the item is theirs, I will give it to them no matter what. I sold an item a while ago and the guy was a 2 hour drive away. He wanted me to hold it for him, and I told him that the only way I would do that was if he would pay my asking price and guarantee me that he would take it. He said he would. 30 minutes later I got a call from another guy, he said he would pay me more than my asking price, and I told him no. I already had a deal with another guy. I did tell him I would call if the other guy didn't want it, but that was as far as I went with it.

Guy showed up 2 hours after he called and picked it up. The reason I waited, because I know how pissed I would be if it happened to me.

What if you were selling something in person and someone walked up and asked for more info and you spent the time and effort to get it and then without a word that person turned and walked off. I'm sorry, I was just not raised that way. How long does it take to send e-mail no thank you.

it didn't take me long to learn to qualify a customer before spending too much time. if the qualifying comes up border-line, you do it. never know, they might come back on another item and you have the edge. the game gets a lot shorter due to you knowing what they like and can afford. yea i know, i'm a dummy. duhh
