Right. I thought that was messed up too. It's like as long as the customer is cool, he gets the best deal, but if they are an asshole, they get screwed. Sounds like a bunch of crooks for salesmen to me. No wonder they get bad reps. People try to play games because car salesmen are for the most part crooks and everybody knows it. Same with mechanics. Real honest ones are hard to come by.
The folks who ended up with the best deals were the ones who came in, discussed what they wanted, and didn't try to play games.[/QUOTE)
So, the car salesmans' reputations came from SOME customers who came in and tried to 'play' them. The rest of us who were honest, straight forward customers got the 'best' deals? Somehow I don't think so. Ever read Wheels? My experience comes from over 30 years owning a retail business where I dealt with my customers on a fair and honest basis. Yes, I had blowhard know-it-alls come in now and then, but I was just as courteous to them and didn't try to out play them because they were trying to play me. I do agree that those customers sometimes had me muttering to myself, but you either deal with all people honestly or you don't. Your business can either flourish or suffer accordingly. Just another opinion in a sea of them. I'm still with MikeyT.
