Buying a car from ebay

Done it twice, first car a 68 Sport Satellite, I had info saved from one year earlier when that seller said he got $500 more at local sale, I thought he was just bluffing to raise the price so I said sell to that guy, 11 months later I bought same car $2500 cheaper + he had invested over $2000 during that period, this time very few pics and he didn't wan't to support with more I had all saved from last time to my favour also contacted the earlier seller that confirmed him as the buyer. Next wednesday will my last buy arriwe to Sweden, first I told him no chance in the world I will send that amount of money I will show up in person and pay for that car but after several contacts I had with him and checked him out and my shipper also was in contact with him I transferred the amount to my shipper who then passed it to him, i also got 60 photos a 5mb 4 times the size of my computer display. Yeahh I know I'm a betrayer but I wanted one of these since 1975.

I found these two cars on the ebag. The Barracuda I didn't go see, but very good pictures were presented and I wasn't disappointed. It was as advertized. The Road Runner I did go see. It was being sold by a dealer about 2 hours from me and after it twice failed to meet the reserve I took a ride to see it. This car also looked as good in person as it did in the photos. Maybe I got lucky but in the end I now have two cars that have been very good to me. Maybe it only shows that there are some good, and honest sellers on there.

Most people are honest, but it only takes one dishonest ahole to cost you a lot of $ and grief. I flat would not buy any car without at least having someone I trust, that knows what they are looking at, check it out if I couldn't get there myself. JMHO. Remember, there are lots and lots of classic rides for sale right now and it's a buyers market. You can afford to be real choosy and wait for a really good deal.

I bought mine on ebay, but it was a classified ad and I went to see it a few hundred miles away. Spend a few hundred to have someone look at it. Like smitty said above, most people are honest so i'd tend to think the guy lost his job or ran out of cash so is unloading it. Just beware, even if the guy is honest, sometimes you run into someone who just doesn't know much - so surprises will happen.

NO... I am not bidding on this but lets discuss..LOL
The green paint on the tires and painted bumbers to me means this car is a mud bucket being flipped.

Would any of you buy a car from, ebay without seeing it in person?

I personally have gotten some really nice pieces sight unseen 1) 90 Lincoln mark vii $900 2) 88 Monte ss $150 3) 71 super bee $2900 4) 71 charger se $3200 5) 99 Sebring $100
Oh yea flea bay cars 1) 89 caviler z-24 convert $800 2) 67 charger $3200 3) 67 mustang fastback $2500 4) 93 mustang gt $275 5) 93 mustang gt convert $450
All were described just as they were in pics and as far as the 68 no paint on tires could just mean he didn't change over from rollers yet but that's my opinion and painted bumpers well he cut that corner to make it his own that's all looks like a decient car if I wanted it and had it I would buy it seen better go for less and worse go for more even saw on here higher priced with way more work needed to be a driver

"There is no title." There's something, but he's not sure what. Those kinds of sellers are up to shady stuff. If they weren't, they'd know what the paperwork is and where they're keeping it....

Sight unseen? No way. No how. Have a bbodies member take a look for you. Caveat Emptor.

Did it...took some time to be very profitable BUT would NEVER buy a car from e-bay without looking at it. Their buyer protection is a joke. I won't even buy a car that is long distance that was looked at by a "supposedly" dependable third party. My Son did that and the car arrived with a bad motor. Third party ten admitted the car was warmed up before He got there. I'll travel and look..may lose some gas and time but will have no one to blame but Myself

I've bought a few cars off the bag but all were projects under 5000 and was happy with the deals. My friend has bought several Cudas off the net and got burned on a couple of them. Myself I would not buy a 10K or up car without seeing it first hand.

before you buy, check the state laws on titles. Some states only give bills of sale for cars older than x years, so what the guy says in the ad sounds right. Just double check.

I'm with bigred on this one. Someone's dropped a lot of money, time, and effort into that car. I don't like their choices, but they obviously had the effort well planned out, which is something flippers generally don't do. I suspect they found out there's an issue with getting the car titled and that's why they are selling it.

I sorta got mine from ebay. I had asked the seller a question, and forgot all about it. when the wining bidder backed out, the seller contacted me with a lower price than he had it listed for. drove seven hours(after getting lots of pics) to see it in person. was excatly the way he described. If you can't see it in person, or have someone look at it, then run away.
and as much as i like green...that '68 Charger look like crap.

I bought my car off ebay, was looking into haveing it shipped but took a couple days off instead and made a 26hour round trip to go get it,Glad I did .the car was everything the seller said it was so I bought it, but I could have came home with an empty trailer too. That Coronet is a lot closer than where I brought the Road Runner back from, but I dont have the room for it,but thats looks like a good deal.
