Ok this is very common swap and I am sure you experts could set me straight. I have a 1970 C-body that has a good 440 & 727 that I will be installing in my 1969 b-body. The b-body was a originally big block 383 car that had a tired 318 in its place, that was way over due for restoration. I have spent the past couple years replacing body panels, trunk, quarters etc..the usual stuff after 40 years of hard use/neglect. I have read that I need to change the oil pan for the motor to fit right and I know I will need to change out the exhaust system, but I am wondering what else will I need to do to change out for this swap. I really appreciate any sugggestions or thoughts. Thank You!

Nothing. Use the correct B body motor mounts and plates. (the rubber insulators are the same for big and small block as is the trans mount) Use either a "402" pan or the 6 quart "hemi" pan and pickup. Be aware the hemi pickup is a larger diameter and the block will have to be redrilled and tapped for it.

Thank You 69 Runner for your info, still wondering

Would you happen to know about putting the 318 out of the b-body in to the 1970 C-body? I know that the donor car (a 1970 Imperial )came standard with a 440 anybody ever done this? I know it might seem strange but the Imperial has a great body no dings dents or rust and a real nice interior, way to nice to part out or let someone demo derby it which seems to be the fate of many of the big C-body land yachts. I bought it for the drive ttrain but have grown to love the feeling of driving a couch. :grin:Any thoughts? suggestions, thanks all!

Same thing in reverse. And yeah, it's been done. I know of a REAL Daytona that is currently being driven around with a small block under the hood. Some of these big to small swaps happened in the first gas crunch.......when it went to
