I pay attention to how tight they are when you take them apart and the size of the bolt. Yes, I know rust and age can make them tighter but if it takes a long handled 1/2" ratchet to break them loose, you should use the same tool to put them back on. Think about it this way, in 125 years of car repairs, billions of fasteners have been removed and replaced without a torque wrench to reassemble and with no issues. Use a little common sense.
