Greetings!

I am swapping out a cam in a 440. I have pulled the distributor, and I found that I have to move the oil pump drive as well.

Question is how do you do this without alot of hassle?

I am only swapping cam and lifters. I have the front of the motor off and the top too.

Please advise!

Thanks.

The drive simply pulls out.

Twist it counterclockwise and pull it out. Stick a screwdriver in the distributor drive slot and twist. If it doesn't come out rock the crank a little each way and try again.

Take a metal coat hanger, cut off the long part, and then bend the end so that it makes a one inch long 90 degree bend like a hook. Slip the hook under the oil pump drive gear and pull up.

The intake is off......
Grab it with your hand and pull the thing out!

If your wife or girlfriend happens to be helping you while you do this, be very specific as to what you're referring to.....
