i'm having issues with my turbo action transbrake valvebody and solenoid. i push the button and it holds good but when i come up on the revs andrelease the button, the car doesnt want to go.
so i let up on the gas and then just footbrake it.
my question is what damage am i doing internally with this problem.
I think my clutches or band is fried.
theres only 8 passes on the trans. it is a fresh rebuild with an A & A Aluminum drum.
when i tried to launch off the line today, the car felt like it blew the tires off, in both lanes and revs came up.
but when i went on the return road it doesnt slip when i nail the throttle and i can drive around with no issues.
the fluid smells burnt when i came back to the trailer.
i drained it tonight and it doesnt smell bad but a little discolored but not terrible. not sure whats going on.

Was anyone watching your run? I would think you could tell if the tires were spinning, no traction, or if the trans was slipping and freewheeling. The transbrake holds the car in first and reverse right? If the car reacts normally w/o the brake energized, ie convertor flashing at usual rpm and launchs off the footbrake, I guess it would make sense the problem is in the transbrake or the wiring. How did it react in the burnout , do you start in first then shift to second? If the soleniod is sticking wouldn't it hold the car from moving?

i start my burnout in 2nd gear. i didnt want to take a chance racing it this way and do engine damage due to a over rev or something.
its cheaper for me to just get the trans fixed then losing a engine due to something than can easily be avoided. so it was a wasted day.
the new trans. is in already so we will see next weekend. weather permitting again.

Yeah with the kind of investment you have in your hardware it makes no sense to run it and see what happens next. Hopefully it is a minor issue and they will take care of you. Do you run a shield or a blanket?

yes a CSR carbon fiber shield.
i am not a big fan of the aluminum drums but i had one around so i put it in.
My other 3 trans. have billet steel drums,
going to put back my turbo action reverse manual valvebody and possibly my old steel drum. it never gave me a ounce of trouble before till i went with this transbrake valvebody.

What trans guts do you have in your fastest car? I guess that would be the black one?

it is a protrans and after a few passes it is coming back out and going to joel on joy in michigan to be done the right way.
Even though it was done professionally, joel on joy is the master of 727's. he'll be getting all my trans. from here on end.
