Trying to find a running engine for my 63 plymouth. Friend of mine has an 90 dodge with a throttle body 360. I was wondering if a regular intake will fit right on? I've also researched and see that the 90's magnum engines made better hp. Can they be converted to carb pretty easily?

I bought an aluminum intake off ebay , installed a used AFB and an inline fuel pump. Hooked the 360 magnum up to my 66 Fury wagon using the old polysphere fan , alt, steerin pump , pulleys, 340 exaust manifolds , flex plate, tork and 727 with kickdown linkage.

The "Magnum" series of engines made more power mainly because of the improvements to the heads. The swirl chambers, the better ports and 1.6 rocker ratio were all great. EFI rarely makes any more power than a well tuned carburetor. EFI sometimes makes more torque though. Being more precise, it also results in better fuel economy and a much cleaner running engine.
Summit racing had at one time a 4 barrel intake they called the "Crosswinds" that had both the traditional LA intake pattern and the Magnum pattern.
Several years back I knew of guys pulling stock 5.9 engines from 100,000 mile trucks and vans. They'd add an aftermarket intake, a Holley 750 4 barrel and headers and run 13s in a Dart or Duster with 3.91 gears. Totally stock engine internally.
