Can you “re-key” an ignition tumbler?

The “meatball surgery” technique I have used is to disassemble the lock down to the cylinder with tumblers/pins intact, insert key you want it to work with, and file off flush each pin that is still sticking out up of the cylinder. Debur and lube, reinstall. Not as secure as installing pins to match your key, but odds of another key fitting are still pretty slim.

You can easily remove the tumbler set from your switch. Insert the switch key and turn to ON. Look in the threaded portion of the switch, and you will see a small pin. Push this pin in with a small screwdriver, and you can pull the tumbler set out with the key.
