I had to remove the left side header to install a mini starter. Of coarse the gasket tore. I have some manifold gaskets from an old kit I have from my last engine. I 'm curious if you can use the manifold gaskets on a header or not. I see the material on the outside is different than on the header gasket. Just trying to save some $ if possible. I would bolt on some manifolds I have but then the exhaust pipes wont hook up to the flanges. Although the manifolds give way more room than the headers.....

I have used them before...it really depends on how good the sealing surface of the header is. Usually it will work....but not last as long. I'd try it....you wont be out anything other than some more time if it blows out

cool, thanks.

Yeah they are so much fun taking apart and putting back together........

weather it seals or not depends on the thickness of the flange.the better quality headers use much thicker flanges and will seal with standard gaskets.as already said, try it and see.

Hell yeah you can. In fact, I've had the best success with manifold gaskets. They have a steel core and don't blow out as easily.
