Hi All,

Issue is car won’t turn on, does the ‘battery dead’ sound. The fast clicking sound, w dome light dimming. No juice when turning the key over.

I charged the battery, then the 440 turned over fine. When I shut it off and tried again, immediately wouldn’t even crank. My question is what is the culprit?

new optima battery, new alternator, new voltage regulator, new starter relay, fuses are all intact. All of these I recently replaced.

could it be voltage regulator?

appreciate all your thoughts.

Swap out the battery and/or have (or do it yourself) the battery tested, "new" doesn't mean good. I had an Optima do exactly what you are saying and turns out it had a failed cell. The other option is that you are not charging the Optima completely and it is using everything it has to start the car the one time, your alternator cannot replace that in a short period.

Some solid state chargers won't deal with an AGM battery. If it's fully charged it should be able to start and run the car several times even with a bad alternator.
