Car show/swap meet pics

Great stories. I believe the shed supposedly housed huge transformers for the el. I don't know if this is true or not, but somewhere I once heard that parking the Bluesmobile next to those transformers was going to be the explanation for the car's "super powers" such as doing a backflip over a cop car, but that plot line was never added to the movie. Since you got both of those, which as I said are rarely seen, you surely know the name of the salon that Carrie Fisher works at, and what she is reading in the salon as she does her own nails.
The salon is named Curl Up and Dye. It's raining out and if I remember she's reading the instruction manual for the flame thrower.

Give that man a cigar. I always thought that name was a great gag to go with her character. What about Jim? Did he go to your school?

Most people don't catch the name of the salon on the sign. Yes, Jim went to the same school. The list of celebrities in that movie is amazing with a lot just doing cameo's or bit parts. Joe Walsh was in the movie, he was a prison inmate in the finally, depending on which version you watch, some versions he was cut out and others he's in there. Chaka Khan is one of the choir singers at the Triple Rock. You have to really keep an eye out in the back ground of the movie, you just don't know who you'll see.

How about John Lee Hooker singing Boom Boom at the street fair. Not only am I a fan of the movie, but I am also into the blues. I believe an Elmore James tune is playing in the background when the brothers are in the furnace room drinking with Cab Calloway. Of course all the members of the band were real life musicians that played on thousands of songs, a lot at Stax.
By the way, I hate Illinois Nazis too.

Every time I watch the movie I so look forward to the Maxwell street scene, the scene with John Lee Hooker. John Lee Hooker then into Aretha Franklin, great stuff. I believe you are correct about the Elmore James tune, I'll have to pay more attention to the song next time and see which one it is. Everyone of the band members were considered to be among the best in the industry with their instrument, just an amazing band. I do enjoy the blues also, if you ever end up in Chicago, first off keep your head down, and second try to make it to Buddy Guy's they book some really good blues acts in there. I've been getting Etta James tunes stuck in my head lately for some reason. I don't like Illinois Nazi's either so I stay out of Springfield to limit my exposure. I always found it interesting though that the Pinto can keep up with the Blue's mobile, that's about as realistic as the Blue's mobile flying over the top of the Pinto. Great movie, now I'm going to have to watch it again this weekend.

Are you familiar with "In the basement"? First heard it in the movie "The Hurricane" about Rubin Carter. Although, as with most based on a true story movies, it took a lot of liberties with reality, I really enjoyed Cadillac Records. The movie doesn't even mention Phil! It does feature Etta, though.

I know the song but I'm not familiar with the movie "The Hurricane". Etta's got an unbelievably powerful voice. This is a great live version of "I'd rather go blind". If you look at the band the bassist is non-other than John Paul Jones of Led Zepplin fame. I guess we got a little off topic but it is your thread so I guess we didn't high jack it.

Mike, I was just getting ready to grab a weekend beverage and watch the movie again to find this answer, now I don't have to, .......... but I will anyway.
