Car won't start with key, but starts at relay??

You got it!!!!! Grounded the neutral safety switch terminal on the starter relay to the battery and car fired right up with the key. Does this mean the neutral safety switch on the tranny is bad? Damnit!!! This one's less than a year old too.
if your conectors seem tight, check to see if switch grounds when in park.easy to tell with continuity tester.

Funny, I'm having the same intermittent no-start problem on my 64 Belvedere. I'm on my way to NAPA for a new ignition switch this afternoon since I've already put in a new relay. The old switch looks pretty crusty. At least the parts for this car are fairly cheap and easy to swap out. Good luck with yours.

Are you referring to the neutral safety switch wire connector? If so, yea its pretty loose and flops around on the switch easily but its been working fine for close to a year. I will check the continuity of the wiring and see if wiring is fine. I'm not really motivated to wire in a new switch so I'm going to try and pry the connections closer together and make it more snug.

Tested the continuity of the neutral safety switch per the FSM, and the ground was bad. Pulled the switch and yep, it was stuck open. Installed a new one and car starts with the key now.
