My 66 Coronet is having (stock engine 65k miles) carb issues so I ordered a rebuild kit. But it got me thinking about tossing on a bit more carb. I looked around for a 4bl intake and small carb but the prices are pretty high since I will be replace the drivetrain in about 1.5-2 years for the gen III hemi. So what about a little bigger 2 bl carb. Maybe a 383 2v? Has anyone else done this, what carb did they use and what were the results? I'm running the auto trans so the kick down must work. Looking to keep this real cheap or I'll just keep the little wheezer it came with.
Thanks for any advice.

The problem you are going to have replacing a Carter BBD is the fact that there are very few carbs that will bolt to that manifold. A typical Holley or OE Stromberg will not fit that little mounting pattern. The carbs that DO fit it will not afford you enough performance increase to make the change worthwhile.
