Carlisle Award Snafoo $$$

From Carlisle Chrysler Nationals site;
"For participants who won awards during the 2022 Chrysler Nationals, but were unable to pick up their awards during the event. Price: $15."

Something is not jiving here.

OP says he had to pay, but others say no. What's the deal?

This right here by there OP is exactly why I no longer do shows either with a car or as a spectator. Yes it is all about the $$$!!! Sorry for the inconvenience you had to put up with and the insult as a result of how these big shows are now being run. Just some advise for the future for anyone planning to attend any future shows...DO NOT WASTE YOUR VALUABLE TIME AND MONEY!!! cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Not all shows charge separate for trophies.

We don't even charge for spectator admission at Spring or Fall Fling. People buy tons of parts, people sell tons of parts.

Just confirmed with my friends Pat and Cheryl that took 2nd with their Superbird in their class. Winner list was posted and told to pick their plaque up at guest services.. no charge! Sounds like someone is running a scam on the field or like Dayton Ohio's Air museum that takes your picture and let's you buy it spoofed onto an aircraft on the way out.

I took my 1968 Monaco 500 there several years ago and placed second and they brought my plaque to me, no extra charge.

The only thing they asked me was if I would like to be part of the awards presentation. I said no thanks, they handed it to me and that was it.

I think I fell victim to some misinformation here.

Same here I think. Maybe I’m misunderstanding things.

@FU64RY Are we not understanding your comment correctly?

In this post he was stoked about winning and was making plans for next year: Chrysler's at Carlisle 2022 Tent Activities

The he posted again about having to pay:
Chrysler's at Carlisle 2022 Tent Activities

I think this may have something to do with him winning the last trophy. Mentions he arrived late Sunday then scramble to get to award presentation. Did they run out of trophies?

The OP doesn’t seem as angry as everyone in this thread piling on and projecting their own personal issues.

At the presentation they give you a plaque. Then they take it back. Then you have to go stand in line to BUY it BACK.

$69.50 (plaque) or $26.50 for just a picture of the presentation.

So! me being last, they ran out of plaques.
So it cost me another $26.50 on top of the reg fee.

It's all about the money.
Update
So here is what I found out.
The plaque was indeed free, but if you wanted a picture of the presentation and of the picture put on a plaque there was charge.
Cristy told me when she handed it to me that she would take it back and I had to go get in line to get it back.
When we finally got to the person in charge she told us that there are no more plaques and we were to purchase a picture from them in leu of a plaque for $26.50. There were several guys in line behind us and they got pissed and just walked away without anything.
So the plaque they gave they apparently gave to somebody else.
I would think they should send me one free if they make more.
I stand corrected but still miffed.

Just went to a Father's Day car show local event. Paid 25 to get in. Got a picture of the car with the Father's Day banner to the side of the car and it was put on to a plaque got it for free. This is an insult to all the guy's that inter a car and have to pay for the trophy. That should be made up by the in-trey fee. Put's a dark cloud on going to that show. Sorry guy's that went but hope you had fun overall.

Since they had a predetermined amount of classes, they should definitely have more made and send it to you no charge if you wanted the regular plaque. Just an opinion.

When all entries are paying upwards of $65 to enter the show field, X 3,000 plus vehicles, you think they would have things covered.

Who said "Pennsylvania"?

The reenactment in Gettysburg each year charges each participant a certain amount of money to be there. With the amount of revenue that show brings into the town they should be paying them, not charging them.

They even charge for hay and feed to take care of the Calvary's horses.

Pa. charges for everything. Overcharges. :D

So you can buy your own award ?
Well ......

I know that some time trophies, but personally, I could give a crap about receiving an eight dollar trophy. If someone told me that I’d have to pay for one, I’d have to laugh at them.

i think Bidin is running thats way you have to pay if you win. ha ha ha ha

Thank you for clarifying.

Sounds like something when sideways beyond the original planning since earlier winners did not have this issue.

It never ceases to amaze me that some one has to turn EVERYTHING political. Take a break!
relax there was a haha at the end . its to bad that you win an award then you have to buy it back . i missed going this year to Carlisle. but didnt miss the heat down there

"Imagine if you will",
every trophy winner say's, no thanks, I've already paid for it once. You can keep it!
