Carter 0-2361 carb rebuild

4142s is the model number, but it is the number you need to get a kit from an auto parts store. You have to make sure that is the carb you have, before buying a kit. Carter four barrels have the number and a date code stamped into the housing and on an aluminum tag attached to the carb. I don't know about two barrels. According to my parts book some 318 engines did come with carters, but that doesn't mean that the carb on your engine is original, or that it even came with a carter. If you can find the model number and a date code, that would make it easier to guess.

The number listed is the correct Carter carb number. My original 1967 Plymouth Factory Service Manual lists ONLY STROMBERG carb for a 318 engine, but a Carter for a 273 engine. IF, due to a previous owner's inaccuracy and accepted and installed an auto parts store replacement carb, which was in this instance a Carter, from the 273 application or a 1968 or later 318 application, the jetting may be incorrect. Just my opinion of course.

My service manual also only lists strombergs for 318 engines. My factory parts book lists strombergs as well as the 4124s for the 318 in B bodies. There can be mistakes in service manuals as well as parts manuals.

Thank you

gonna pull the carb off and see if I can find some numbers and try a rebuild kit
