Carter AFB lean at idle

I can’t help the clueless.

When you come to the table looking for help, let it be know I do not have a crystal ball, I am not clairvoyant, I can not read minds. General statements can not be read into for there mysterious meanings of what could be wrong.

Stating “I have a carb problem” & then being asked for information, only to be given “Its a 426 with a purple cam” lacks a major amount of information it’s head spinning. With over 30 purple cams last available not to mention the verity of what was offered years past that still may be in the engine is of zero help. Same with the carb. It could have been any verity of AFB from inception to recent releases and any variation that has been produced.

I can’t help. I’d love to, but can’t.

I get approached with being shown a carb called by the owner as an AFB. Sometimes it turns out to be an AVS and once a new demon carb. If the person doesn’t know anything about the car, and worse, argue, I can’t help.

Again, I’d love to help. But I can’t.

As Bob said. They disappeared in 68 with the CAP emission carbs, when all venting was captured or meant to be captured. Is the choke pull off used? I see your not using ported vacuum for the distributor. Can you explain why you think it is lean?
It was capped of for setting the timing. I can cover most of the top of carb to restrict and car will idle smooth with no dieing
