Was that cast iron bracket the goes across the top of the intake painted with the engine or did it go black? Since it’s held on with two of the intake bolts I was curious. Still trying to hunt that particular bracket up by the way. Thought I had one but it’s for a 440. Too wide.

Ok. So that bracket was black. Does that mean the negative battery cables and throttle return spring brackets were not on the AC engines when they were painted as they were held on by one of the bolts that hold this bracket on? Working on a factory AC engine is a new animal for me and I am trying to do this car right

On my 66 there was evidence it was painted engine colour so that is what I painted it.

My bet is someone (Likely an auto detailer)was fogging paint & the bracket got paint on it... I've worked on quite a few early cars with the cast iron compressor mount... They are usually/normally black...

Here is a picture from when I first disassembled the 361. Yes there is over spray on the compressor, but the bracket was engine colour on all sides. Obviously they never bothered to detach the compressor from the bracket, so I doubt they painted it.

I am not a member of that site. I also hate to pay to ship that heavy compressor if I don’t have to.
It's quite possible he would sell the bracket separately... Signing up to FCBO isn't that difficult... Then again I joined FBBO cause someone linked a part for sale that I was looking for on this site.....
