My 73 charger have a problem with starting once I drive it and get it hot about 165-175 degrees. If I shut it off and start it right back up it starts, but If I let it set about 20 minutes or longer it will only spend over but will not fire.I have changed the control box and coil but It still does the same thing,I have checked it and it's dumping gas into the engine,I have pulled the coil wire out of the dist.and grounded it while turning it over no spark. let it sit about two or three hours and it will start. How hot is the coil suppose to get while running?I don't feel that the timing is to high because I don't hear any spark knock.what can it be?

Pick-up coil inside the dist.

Are you still running pints/condenser?
wheres your coil mounted?

The car is a 73 came with wall mounted module and my coil is located right next to the Dist. bolted on the space for it on the RPM intake.

Big Block car?
No 360.I installed a new distributor.and it doing the same thing. coil is getting hot, once it gets hot and I cut it off that's it until it cools off. I Let it got hot and put on another coil and it started back up,something is getting the coil too hot to start the car, but what and how? I feel now that I may have some wires touching some how. Do anyone know of a company that sales a distributor for a small block that will do away with the control box,and all the other parts that makes it srart and give me a one wire setup or 2 wire setup with coil.

Have you replaced your ballast resistor?
mopars are known for potentially heating up the coil when they're mounted on the intake, they "swell" and kill spark until they cool down,
but it sounds like you may have something else going on.

I think I have solved the problem with the charger.I noticed that the car seemed to drag alittle when it was hot also.I went to bed thinking about the problem and it came to me that the car was doing the same thing my 69 chevy truck had done some time back.I run a little more timing in the winter time and move it back during summer months. But I forgot to retard the timing when I pulled the car out this spring.I have drove it and let it sat and so far it is doing ok.Geting old is going to be hard on me. Thanks to all that gave me some things to think about and try.
