Cleaning and Painting!!! Knock off the balance weights?

Hello! Cleaning, and painting these! Should I keep or knock off the the balance led weights, since they might need to be re-balanced?

Those are welded on iron weights they were put on when they were manufactured. leave them on.

If you remove them you'll never forgive yourself! No way to re-balance unless
you make a special fixture to run them in a balance machine. (Or static balance)

If they need turning, that will remain neutral to the assembly. Leave them alone.

I wouldn't knock off the weights. The paint will not add that much weight to the drums and it will be fairly evenly distributed. I think if you knock them off you will be creating a whole new bunch of problems.
