the clutch rod from pedal to Z-bar should 13 7/8 inches , the A-body is 14 1/4 inches is that the only difference? can I take an A-body and cut it down and weld it to the 13 7/8 that I need ? also the openings on the rod are a D shape (dont look worn) is there some type of bushing that goes on first or is that the way they are?

To me it looks like they have a totally different bend to them. The d shape is right and there are thin plastic disks on each side that act as the bushing. Also there is a metal clip that holds each end on. Check out brewers performance for a look at the different rods and the bushing sets.

The bends are differnet. The first picture is an A-body and the second pictures is the B-body. The pictures show froma side angle the bends and length on the tape. Also like has been mentioned before Brewers performance has a great site with alot of info.

yep I got the A-body one

I'm sure you can make it work but the steel these are made out of might be some pretty tough stuff. Welding the two ends together, even if you Vee out the area to be welded, will anneal the area and may cause a weak spot. You should join the two sections together with a long piece of thick wall tubing that has been fishmouthed to give extra weld area around the joint. I made one from scratch years ago for a 68 Mustang I had using drill rod and heim joints and it worked out well.
