Collection of Parts for 392 Swap

Fab’d up the patch for the wiper motor bulge clearance. Patch for the clutch cable clearance. Also found the USCT TR6060 trans mounts sat too low at proper drive train angle with the QA1 coil over K frame. Fab’d up new tabs to lift the mounts up closer to the floor to make room for the exhaust. Welded the mounts into place, connecting them to the cross frame. Next step is getting the firewall and underside prep’d for paint.

Took advantage of the Holley black Friday sale and got myself an E body pistol grip shifter and shifter boot for the swap. My non console B body pistol grip was not going work with TR6060.

Finished up welding in the trans tunnel covers, welding in a patch to fill in the front half moon clearance in the support arch, cutting out the shifter clearance in the arch and cover. Also cut out and fab’d in a pipe for e brake cable clearance in the SFC. And made some seat mount stiffening plates for the passenger side.

Waited for a warm day and blasted the shop with propane heaters to get it toasty warm so the car could get up to a nice temp to get some painting done.

Gave the trans a scrub and then two coats of Mopar Street Hemi Orange paint just to be different.

Rattle canned the engine bay and front frame rails with satin black frame and roll bar paint. Coated the undercarriage with a coat of primer and then two coats of rattle can spray on bed liner. Was a bit of process painting without it being on a whirly jig but I’m happy with the end result.

Next up when the temps are back above freezing next week is seam sealer application at all possible leak points in the firewall and trans tunnel.

Got the TTI headers installed today. After swapping out the original starter for the mini, they bolted up fairly easy. The head gaskets stick out past the head and the block so I needed to bend the excess down slightly so the header flange would slip past it.

Applied seam sealer to the underside. Covered up the welded areas and made sure to fill all gaps that could let moisture in.

Did some chopping and modifying to the underside of the 2020 challenger console for some test fitment on the new tunnel. I’m going to use some aluminum to fab up covers for the gaps in the front and back. Flex the the front flare of the console tighter to the tunnel and attach the carpet to the underside to fill the rest of the gap. After it’s all mocked up I’m going to paint it with Herbs brilliant blue (B5) paint.

The armrest feels great at this height. The position it’s in now lines up pretty good with the shifter position as well. And it’s going to be awesome to finally have some cup holders!
