The back blue piece...behind the console glovebox...has been broken out on my 1970 Dodge Coronet. The rest of the console is great. Do I have to buy a complete new console or is there some way to install a new piece? I was sickened to see this when I picked it up from the shop where I was getting a new gas tank installed. I really need your help on this one. Thanks.

Was it broken when you took it there???

Depends on how badly it is broken! You might glue it on the inside, but it will never be right!A new console is the only alternative. If the shop broke it ?They are liable for the damages.

I have had great luck with , apoxy and gorilla glue , on the back side and then put craft stick in it to reignforce for strength . Then use finger putty on the face to fill the cracks and lightly sand it. Then paint it . If all the pieces are there this should work fine , other wise just buy a new console shell .

I fixed a Ford console on the inside and you can't tell its broken at all. Don't sweat it. I would go after the shop who broke it, however.

The console was not broken when I took it in. The guy at the shop does acknowledge that it was broken there and he said he is looking for one. However, it's been months and when I ask him about it.. he says he'll call me. I'm not very happy right now.

Was it noted on your receipt??If not bring it back and have it written that they damaged your console and it will be repaired at thier expence!

I can't even glue it back together because the owner of the repair shop took all the pieces. He says he will make it right. But it's been awhile and I am getting real impatient. I wish I could find a blue console and make him pay for it.

Does your insurance include coverage for damage? If so, you may be able to have your insurer go after the shop owner on your behalf, saving you a lot of heartache. Don't know what the law is in Iowa, but if it was me I'd consider having the console repaired and send him a copy of the bill for reimbursement. Then if he balked on payment, I'd threaten to take him to court. But that's just one man's opinion.

Then I would give him two choices.....You could tell him that you will locate one and he can buy it or you want him to turn it into his insurace for the replacement value and he can give you the cash. No way would I turn itinto my own insuarnce.

Either way, Rocket Restorations has lots of dash related parts. See if they have the part you need...

If nothing else i would have find buy me a new black plastic console body and have a shop use a good plastic/vinyl die and die it the correct blue. If he owes you for the repair it time to pony up and get it over with. He might be thinking of waiting you out.

Thanks for all the advice you Mopar lovers have given to me about my broken console. I definitely will use this advise and start to put more pressure on this guy.
Thanks again,
