Does anyone remember these things. I do not. I am assuming the idea was to have 4 nickels with your keys for the parking meter, all the while reminding you that if you had gone to Sears you wouldn't have to feed a meter. If my assumption is true, how long ago would 20 cents have gotten you any decent amount of parking time?

Oklahoma City was the first to install parking meters in 1935 so I've read, I guess a nickel got one hour parking then.

Some may remember these license plate key tags. My folks had these on their key rings for years. They were provided from the Disabled Vet's org for those donating I recall. On the back it was indicated that anyone finding these keys (if lost) could just drop them in the mailbox and they would be returned to the owner. Nice thing huh? Sure for good folks. Later it was thought people finding them, with other intentions, not so much.

Ok, how about one with a story....

Probably thirty five years ago I was working at a dealership turning wrenches.. It's Friday about 4:15, the mechanics get off normally a 4:30...

A car comes in on a hook.. Guy & his family trying to get to Tahoe & lost a water pump... Service writer is in the process of telling them the techs are about to get off for the weekend & it'll be Monday before anyone can look at it...

I happened to be near the service desk & tell the writer I'll at least take a look... While I had a look the customer & his family went across the street & grabbed some food... They also started looking into getting a rental car, but weren't having much luck....

I had no pressing plans so I stayed late & fixed the car to get them back on the road... When done I took off for my weekend, letting the writer deliver the car... The customer was quite happy and as I found out later the customer had left a few trinkets and get this, $500..... First & only time I'd heard of someone leaving such a generous tip... (when the service writer was out that night with a few drinks in him he ran into a friend of mine & bragged)
So come Monday morning the writer gives me this key fob.... I thought it was cool.. Then a day later I heard about the $500.... I didn't quit but I came damn close... When the man that owned the dealership heard about it the writer got fired...

Recently I have been putting together a collection of Gulf oil related items. I live just off of Harper Avenue, so when I saw this keychain with a Harper Avenue address, I grabbed it. I didn’t realize it by the address, but it is just a quarter mile from my house, and it is now a Shell station that I have been to hundreds of times. I am thinking the key chain is from the 1960’s Because the telephone number is listed with two letters instead of all numbers

I inherited this fob when I bought Fred back oh I don't know, like 12 years ago?
It's apparently from the early minivan era of Plymouth, looks like that logo period...
Beat all to hell now, probably should replace it - but I DO like the old leather with
medallion designed fobs like it:

I pick this one up at a flea market yesterday. It has a Plymouth logo on one side and a car dealers address and phone number on the other side. It has a pocket labeled Emergency Nickels. I didn’t notice when I bought it, but when I got home I realized it had a buffalo nickel in the pouch. Unfortunately, it is so worn it has no mint date.

About 5 years ago my wife and I took some of my old army embroidered nametapes and made keychains for our kids. I do not have any picture, but they came out real nice.

It looks like the logo on it is the one used from 1928 - 1961. The pocket the nickel is in is so small that it would be tight to get 2 into it.
