Hey guys, Does anyone have an idea what to use for a radiator overflow bottle for my 1969 R/T ? The car is completely stock and used mainly for shows and cruising. It has all the proper cooling equipment such as 26" radiator with viscous fan and shroud, and does not run hot. It does, however, like to pee on the ground after shut off. That is not a way to stay in favor with the car show crowd. To maintain a stock appearance, what would you suggest for coolant recovery?

Have you tried running it with a little less coolant, like the amount it is puking?

They say to leave them about 3/4 of an inch or so down on antifreeze and it should be ok as far as pissing on the ground and temp. running good.

I have let it find it's own level, but it seems kinda low and still pees. At idle the temp goes up beyond normal then drops when the thermostat opens. Just bugs me cause it stains the ground and a catch can is only a crutch, not a cure. That's why I want to run an overflow that's either period correct or hidden. Thanks guys!

Take an empty motor oil bottle (clean it out, obviously) and stuff it in between the radiator and the battery tray, drill a hole in the cap big enough to put overflow hose in and voila!!! overflow tank!!! i've found the mobil one bottle works the best, cuz of it's shape...it won't piss anything out, and whatever it does dump into the tank, it will suck it back in when the car is running :HappyNewYear:

Summit has them cheap. I have one on my hemi car as it is a drag car and the strips require it.

I saw the Summit catch cans. Will the juice suck back in like a sealed system, or is it just a catch can?

I bought a cool catch can from Summit it is stainless steel. I too was tired of puking on the ground. When I first hooked it up it was wrong and it just collapsed my hoses and got real hot. I decided to call Summit and they told me to hook the over flow hose to the bottom of can and run hose that is on top to out side in case the can fills up
it will drain out. And don't forget there is a drain on the bottom of can, be sure to open that up. It works like a charm. Now I can keep water in radiator all the way up to the top.

My 440+6 dribbled a bit. I had an original radiator cap on it. I got a new cap from the local parts store and the dribbling stopped.

I have a black plastic Moroso overflow bottle now, but when I got the car it had a Coors beer can taped to the grill bracket with electrical tape, the hose going into the pull tab hole!

I bought my catch can from Summit and it is the be cool can which it does when hooked up properly works the same as an overflow bottle. And yes it does suck it back in after i shut off the ignition. I have it mounted on the front right side of the radiator support.
Beats those ugly plastic bottles.

step one: buy gatorade, has to purple, and not the dark purple, the light purple.

Step two: drink gatorade

Step three, Cut hole in bottom of gatorade bottle.

Step four: stick some ruber hose up in the hole and seal with duct tape/ masking tape/ crazy glue

Step five: wrap a condom around the top of the bottle and tape on

Your done! When the coolant overflows it will drain into the bottle, inflating the condom, when cool, the condom pressure will help push the coolant back into the radiator. Tape is also useful for mounting! Hope your car is brown, orange, pink, yellow, blue, green, silver, or black because those are the only available colors of duct tape.

This fix working great for me, and got lots of looks at the southwest mopar mininats! :pop eyed tongue:

This is also working great as my gas can, and windshield washer fluid bottle!

I've seen quite a few people use something as simple as a Coke can as a temporary catch can, this idea comes in pretty handy at the race track.....unwanted water on the track doesn't go down well with officials.

Ziptie the can down the side of the radiator a stick the hose in it and there you have it.....an instant colostomy can for your peeing Mopar.

Alternatively........you could pull up at the car show and pee on the ground yourself.......guaranteed,no one will notice what the car's doing.
