Core Plug Removal Fiasco

So if I understand correctly, I'm just trying to visualize, not being a smart ***..., so the plug was still in the block (bent) with a hole in the plug from the screw. The measurement is from the face of the plug into the block... Which is to the cylinder wall.
So why do you think you broke through into the cylinder wall? How long/ size screw were you driving in? Just my opinion but I've tried to drill pipe & round stock before and unless you punch it any kind of point usually deflects off of the side...

Using a screwgun...The self tapping screw pierced the plug then then outer cylinder wall of the block inside the water jacket.

Using a slide hammer...to I stall it, correct?

Got it! Now maybe this could be good news...if that is the same self tapping screw, I highly doubt you went through the cylinder wall unless you used 10+ screws and a professionl drywallers screw gun... The tip on those few would burn up before you ever scratched the surface. I would do everything to re-verify that it went through...
I'm not trying to dismiss your diagnoses...just sometimes its hard to visualize something happening...

As I said before, hard to believe a screw could penetrate a cylinder wall. The freeze plug doesn't have enough wall thickness to generate the force to break through a cast iron cylinder. The threads would strip out of the freeze plug. Car Nut has a good idea, new freeze plug, add water, see if it shows up in the oil. If it does, you need to start with other parts.
 
Why not just start the engine for a few seconds with no water or freeze plug while looking at the the pit in the cyl wall? You'll know instantly if you've pierced it...
 
Or spray some soapy water on the pit, turn the engine over by hand and check for bubbles.
