Corvette Sedan?

ford mach-E is the second best selling ESUV on the market right now.

I see a fair amount around here.

Seriously? I see none around here, but maybe I'm just not looking for them because all these crossover/suv vehicles all look the same.

Don't think a 4 door Corvette is an innovation as much as wanting a piece of Chrysler's success. If you squint, a 4 door Corvette will look a lot like:

I've seen none here either, we even have a Ford
& JCRD dealerships here in Sonora area too,
lots of Jeep Grand Cherokees,
lots of 2, 4 dr old & newer Rubicans or Wranglers
(you name it we have it)
& Gladiators Jeeps
a shitload of Jeeps especially older versions,
(it's 4x4 Jeep country)
& newer Ram/PowerWagon 4x4 Pickups, a few Durangos
Lots of SRT badges in the mix
lots of Ford 4x4 Trucks, lots of Broncos (new & old), especially older versions
(it's 4x4 Ford country)

few newer Mustangs, no EV versions

we have a GM dealer down in Jamestown
lots of Chevy/GMC 4x4s
(it's Chevy Country)

the best selling lil' crap boxes are Subaru's
we used to have a local Sonora Subaru dealership
(it was Angels Camp area org, 49er Subaru)
it went the way of the dodo bird, still have a Subaru service center
the old Sonora Subaru Dealership is now my Bank,
has been for like 10 years now
You will see more old Subaru BRAT's (lil' crapbox pickup) with seats in the back
here than almost anywhere, I've been
Quite a few Impreza's AWDs

I never ever see/seen any of the Mach-E/Mustangs
plenty of Explorers (exploders)
& Tahoes or Suburban style Denalis too
plenty of tourists with Prius's too
not Many Volts or GM EVs at all, ever
lots of the GM crap-boxes CUVs, very very few if any EVs now
a while back we had a few local Prius's, 1 across the street
it's dying a miserable death
they don't/can't/won't do well here
very rare to see a Tesla, I do know 1 guy thou...

real 4x4s do well here, awd & front-wheel drive not as well

Not many high end SUVs, very few Porche',
or Caddy Escalades, Expeditoins
or Range Rovers/Land Rover
or Toyota Land Cruisers (except older versions) or Rav4 crapbox POSs
(I'm not a Toyota hater either)
except inner-shitty flatlanders/tourists from the bay or valley
no place to charge or plug them in
& nobody that lives here fulltime 'cares either' :poke:
local tow company does a great business 'off flatlanders/tourists'

We do have a good contingent of newer Challengers & Camaros,
a few reg. newer Mustangs, most are like 10 years old
in the spring & summer, really worthless in late fall & winter

I helped/tutored the neighbor while restoring/building this one

What’s the average age of a Corvette buyer? It used to be 59. Maybe they are looking for a younger crowd... with the station wagon.

Anyone remember these? :D

I had 4 Vettes in my early 20's to about 35 y/o
bluechip cars today, IMO it wasn't the norm thou

most are middle-aged or older, multiple gold chains under unbuttoned silk shirts,
chest hair-bearing, w/big *** watches, in Birkenstocks with socks on, wearing
3rd world crowd now (especially cheap the c4s & c5s) that used to be the c3 crowd

the demographic has changed for sure

I remember the Vette kits in the 70's early 80's too

I did like these concepts of Vettes/Corvairs
precursor to the Nomad & that fastback Worlds fair display cars
I actually like that wagon concept way better than the 53-54 Vettes

It’s hard to tell from that angle but, the “wagon” is really a Bel Air. Look how wide it is.

This angle shows it better.

It was 2-3 years before, the 55 'Nomad' BelAir
it may be on a 51-52 BelAir Frame
I don't know what they used...

the early 53-54 Vettes were wide-ish looking too

personally, I dislike the 53-54 Vettes

55 was the 1st cool year, great lines thru 57,
then the 61-62 good rear & front ends
then 65-67 mid years BB cars,
I liked the Mako Shark 68-72 real steel bumpers
not modeled plastic

54's on assembly line

I don’t remember where, but I read that it was built on the Bel Air chassis and therefore wider. I’m not sure how much.

I wouldn’t mind a ‘55. First year for the V8 and manual transmission.

That's like saying the Superbird wasn't produced by Plymouth. Did you read the article that mentions Chevrolet planned to produce them by outsourcing them to California Custom Coach?
All of the info was what the "seller claims".
But it is your right to take it as gospel.

And you may very well be correct. I don't know enough about such oddities. But the seller does seem to offer some tidbits at least. I don't recall reading the R&T article either.

I'd rather they used the Impala SS name, but the Corvette is so different now, I guess I can live with it. I didn't like calling the Coronet a Charger either, but that didn't get me anywhere.
