Looking for what it costs to rechrome a front bumper. The front bumper of my 70 Coronet is in nice condition, no rust, or dents. I can calculate the shipping . But what should I expect (ball park) to pay to have the chrome done.

It will depend on the area and company but I doubt you will get it done for less than $1,000. I had front and rear done on a 66 Satellite and they were generally around $1,000 apiece. And that was in a small custom chrome shop in the hills of Arkansas which I suspect is on the low end of the scale. But I think my rear bumper may have been the last big bumper he did as he said the full size bumpers were getting to be too hard for him to work through all his sanding and polishing operations by himself.

wow, prices have really gone up. I had my bumpers chromed in 2011 in San Jose, CA at the most recommended shop in town and it was $400ea. Glad I did it then.

And this is why we can't have nice things..

Had several done two years ago, the Impala 3 piece was $750 each, 73 Charger was $650, as were the Chevelles. All were fairly good cores and I drove them the two hour trip. My 68 GTX cores were just too rough to redo, so, AMD repops were $425 each. All my past platers who have closed all say the same thing, it got too expensive to dispose of the old chemicals.

Got you beat. I had the original rear bumper on Baby Blue done in 1985 at Johnstown Bumper Mart in PA for $125, after paying $1800 for the car two years earlier. Chrome was still good nearly 40 years later, with the exception of a few thin spots from polishing. I still wasn't able to afford the Magnum 500s until the following year. As posted by others, the disposal costs for the chemicals have driven the current pricing.

You can't buy one repop magnum 500 for $125 now.

I've been checking with ones within 3 hours of my location so I can drop off/pickup and save shipping. The price varies WILDLY!

One was $900 for my front bumper and $700 + $100 for each bumper guard for the rear ('70 charger)—without requiring any straightening, etc. Yes, I double-checked that they knew it was the 70 wrap-around bumper. I think those are decent prices.

The other was $2500 & $1800 respectively.

They're both in Eastern TN - I can give details in PM, but I don't want to validate any forum rules :)

What was Tri City Plating? It's been a while since I checked, but they were at $800 each for my 66-67 B bodies.

My Charger rear bumper was $900 last summer, just a scuff on the corner. Tri City.

Depending on how fast you want it. In my case I dropped it off during our local parts swap meet to the chrome bumper vendor then picked it up at another swap meet 80 miles away at end of season.

The front one just waited until the next years swap meet. NO shipping charges. But this was years ago. Also if you know what chrome shop dealer will be at your local swap meet call them they, may have one in stock for a exchange with
yours core.

This rear bumper was in bad shape. some one welded a trailer hitch to it.
