I know there are such things as "barn finds" out there. I do not deny that and I know some people on the forum have probably really found their car in a barn or field. But, has anyone noticed that a lot of the old cars that are for sale on craigslist have the words "barn find" in the ad? It used to be "owned by a little old lady and was driven to church", now it seems that it has evolved to "barn find". What is odd about it is if you look at some of the wheels and add-ons that are on the vehicle, it is a dead give away. I just feel sorry for all the livestock that had to stay out in in bad weather so the cars could sit in the barn! Now don't get upset, I said at the beginning, I know there are barn finds out there, I just did not know there were as many as I see on craigslist.

true that...LOL...

I'm getting to where I don't pay much attention to CL anymore. Seems that everyone selling is thinking it's worth what a nice daily driver is worth and it's a POS instead....

Right on! I don't even go there.

You are right on Cranky. The Craigslist around here has so much garbage that you have to dig through to find anything half decent it's not worth the time or trouble anymore. I've given up on it.

I use Craigs list a lot for lots of non car related things.

Most people put anything they can think of in their "related word" part just to get a hit. I don't take any offense to it, just a clever way to say look at me.

Yup, but what the hell is a 'donk' ??? It's used a lot with cars that have 48" wheels with rubber so thin that you can hardly see the tire.....freakin morons....

Cranky, you forgot to add....usually driven by idiots who wear their cap backwards and have the crutch of their jeans between their ankles :tongue5:

I think maybe that is a slang word for *** (donkey) so that should clear it up for you ...... 8-) ...................MO

Being in law enforcement, I use the Urban Dictionary a good bit to stay up on the current slang. Below is a definition from the Urban Dictionary.
1. donk
a very round, attractive ghetto syle booty

derivation: shortened form or badonkadonk
"damn, i wanna hit that fine donk."

I think a lot of our society has put their Webster's Dictionary on the shelf next to their Bible.

I don't mind the use of "barn find" in CL ads anymore than I mind the use of "muscle car" by guys driving Cudas, Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, and other Pony and Sports cars. Nor do I mind the use of "muscle car" to describe pretty much every 60s-80s car that comes up for sale on CL these days. It's just a way of getting your ad noticed.

And since there's no defining interpretation of what a barn find even is, who's to say it's not one? :)
