OK so this might be a little far fetched but what about a phenolic spacer for the fuel pump? Make a slightly longer pushrod and maybe a rubber gasket to try and seal off the pump from the block......but maybe more work than it's worth. Plus I guess that might throw off the geometry of the rod to pump arm. I just hate the whine of a electric fuel pump.

For quite some time, I've used the holley gerotor fuel pump, it's expensive, but quieter.

Me neither. I would never squeeze a ball to get a car started.

That would make me nervous as well.
I had problems with my AVS with evaporation and lots of cranking. I resorted to the mustard bottle filled with gas and squirting it into the vent.

I changed to a Holley 750DP with no choke and it fires on one pump and a short crank every time now.

Correct, you don't understand. The fuel is NOT running back down the fuel line out of the carb.. it is evaporating out of the carb vents. A check valve will do nothing for this issue. As others have said it is a modern fuel blend issue exasperated by heat.

Mount it in the floor next to your seat. Plumb the outlet into your primary carb vent and run a line from the inlet up through your seat. Increase protein intake. Problem solved
