Did the water pump let go?

No it appears to be fine. And the car ran fine after the crunch with the exception of the small leak from the three vertical water tubes that were nicked (and later repaired).

I bought Schmacher motor mounts. I found after measuring that they had .150 to .175 extra clearance. Could help to explain the movement.
