my 64 Polara has a Dana 60 rear end. The information on the axel portion of the unit is all missing. There is a 60 in the casting and another set of numbers C34155 also cast into the rear end. Just curious if anyone knows what that means. Thanks....

You mean the stamped numbers on rear of right axle tube aren't there?

Does it have provisions for a Pinion snubber?? That will at least tell you if it's originally from a truck or a car

Nothing on the axle tubes...... and where would the Pinion snubber be located?

There would be a machined surface just behind top of yoke with 3 tapped holes for snubber. Truck dana's don's have machined surface. As said post #3.

ok thank you I will take a look......

Ok this Dana 60 does have the snubber mounting pads. So it came out of a car but since the info on the axle tubes is missing there is no telling which kind of car........ appreciate the help....

Measure axle width, housing width and spring pad width. Then do a search for Dana 60 width charts. First use the search box in the upper right corner then search web if no hit here.

I finally managed to get ahold of the guy I bought the car from. He said the guy he bought it from said that it came out of a Challenger or a Charger.... so I guess that is the best I can do with the numbers filed off.... why would you file off the stamped numbers? unless............. hmmmm.............

If it came out of a challenger, it's probably been narrowed.
If it came out of a charger, it would depend on the year, it might have been narrowed.
That would explain why the BOM isn't there.
Frankly, I don't understand why the numbers you are looking for are important. It's obviously not a stock piece for a 64, and who knows what has been done to it, that would make the numbers meaningless anyway.

You'll get your answer in this thread, scroll down forhttps://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/threads/dana-60-widths.12669/ chart. Sorry link doesn'k work

The Dana under my Savoy came out of a Camaro that had ladder bar mounts welded to it. So when cutting and grinding the brackets most of the build code was removed from the operation. That is one reason numbers are removed.

sorry I have been gone for awhile....... @33 IMP ...I just like to know all the components that are in the car.... it is there and it is working well but there was no invoice in the file I got on the Dana.... So just curious.... looks like about 55 to 56 inches wide..... the engine and tranny are both well documented in the files that came with the car......

Fair enough. If you're curious enough, pull the cover off.
