Trying to determine what I am missing in the dash. Can you tell me what indicator (I assume) should be there?

What's up with the wooden piece in the dash? I have seen another and I have to assume that this is not correct. Are there any sources for reproduction wood dash stickers to replace this piece of wood?

Thanks,
Scott

I had a '71 Charger that had an indicator light that was similar to the reverse light but was red and said "seat belts" in the same location. It looked like this one from Tony's Parts:

It might not look bad if you had the right color stain to match the plastic. Just my 2 cents.

I think this would be the first time I see the dash frame seatbelt light on a 71 B body. They usually are on 72/74s and NOT ALLWAYS ( can't tell what determined to get it or not ). 71s got the seatbelt light WHEN EQUIPPED, time delay flasher controled, so an extra bulb, aside the one on map light insert will change the time will keep light up to make the reminder call. Unless this car didn't got the map light reminder light and got this dash frame one instead

72/74s got sensors and relays to controll these seatbelts WARNING ( not just a reminder ) light. Way diff stuff on how it works

about passenger side dash insert... just get an used part... they are PLENTY. ALL ( and I mean REALLY ALL ) 71/74s B bodies got the same with just the vent outlets difference.

My '71 Charger was a late production car (11/70). It was an ordered car with Bahama yellow, buckets, 383 2 brl, 14" rally wheels, floor mount cassette, hideaway headlights, key buzzer and the seat belt light on the dash. I bought it from the original owner and it had not been modified. Maybe it was late '71 thing?

11/70 is late for a 71? I am here to LEARN.

My 71 has a speaker fader knob and a map light. If you don't have any of the other options just put in a blank plate you can get them pretty cheap. On the dash insert it depends on if you have an ac car or not but no matter which you can find theses pretty easy at decent prices as well. Good luck.

Hi sorry it took a while to get back--was out of town. By nothing I mean nothing, no hole, knob, switch or otherwise.. My car had a build date of 02-03-1971.. Kevin

Thanks again for the responses. For cars that only have the one indicator light, isnt it normally centered in the space? Mine has two holes that are equally centered in the space as if it was meant to be.

How do you get the passenger side dash piece off (and back on)? Do I have to remove the dash or can I possibly remove the glove box and access that way? I am away from the car for a few days so doing a little research before I get home on Tuesday.

Scott

Should be able to get to that from glove box. There's no telling what you may find, since that is a custom piece.

no need to remove anything... from underneath you can reach the rear nut

I would think it came with map light only.

I've got one from a 73 that will fit but if has the vents. PM me if interested. Will let you have it for the cost of the ride.
