Sales HAVE proven where the market stands. That is it and if the owner wants to be happy in his mind of being more correct in his mind...So be it...
Your "I don't Believe" means you really do not know...you are justifying your earlier point with no factual proof other than an opinion...
I do respect 69coronetrt he has much much mopar build knowledge.
I don't sell I buy and a date code correct and hp stamped block versus some random motorhome or c body motor gets me to pull a little more cash out of my pocket.
I have a 1970 v code roadrunner.
I went through a lot of trouble to make the non original motor as close to original as I can. Correct paint, fasteners, plug wires, carbs, dizzy.
I shopped around long and hard for a F440 hp date code correct motor.
To be clear these are vin stamped motors and mine was long gone.
All this effort, you really think I was gonna put some random 440 block into it?
Hell no.
would I expect it to bring as much as a numbers matching car if I sold it? No.
Would I expect it to sell for more and attract and larger pool of buyers if other than the vin , everything is was correct? Hell yes.
Don't stare down your nose at this. Peope like me and the OP who do this are helping to keep this hobby alive.
Keep these cars on the road and collected.
Ask yourself would you go ahead and cut up a nice 69 a12 4.10 geared car because the original six pack motor was long gone as just about 50% of them are?
