Dirty plugs. What say ye?

Jets .080 fronts. .094's rear. 6.5 Pv and rear is blocked. All BLP stuff.
Shooters .033's.
Needle seats .120
Idle bleeds .070's all around.

493 cubic inch. 12.5 compression.

I'm gonna full with the mixture screws on the metering blocks and go from there. They are now turned 1.5 out. Might go in 1/4 turn all around and see / feel how it goes.

My guess is too much main jets. Split should be 10. 74-84 is my choice.

Turning the mixture screws is idle fuel only. IMHO that is.

What size carb do you have and cubic inches? Are your jets Holley's or BLP's? I'm only asking because for instance, an .080 BLP jet is a 76 in Holley.

512 ci. 10.5 comp. Pump gas. I run a 1050 and I also ran an 850 with 86 jets square in both. No power valve. Ngk 8. I change plugs once a year just because. Drag car only.
After warming up the engine and TURNING IN the metering block mixture screws 1/4 turn, the new gapped .035 plugs revealed this type of burn. I drove around the neighborhood, but behaved civil without any space to let it all out. Car was razor mad responsive at the hit. I will test with some blasts under full power and see how they read thereafter.

Use a NGK 5 heat range, not 7....
Use EITHER.....AC 45XLS or AUTOLITE AP85 or CHAMPION RC12YC or N-11Y. The difference between the NGK brand and any of the other brands noted is zero......except for the psychosomatic differences in the thought-provoking process.....

If there is no difference..... why recommend one over another..

Plain and Simple - Bob hates the NGK Brand

So anything other then NGK in his eyes

Engine Masters did a test on spark plugs. Autolites made 3 hp over
NGK.

Not true....my Weed Eater, Stihl equipment and 25kw Generac generator use NGK plugs....but they're not the be all answer to all applications....contrary to what certain subscribers believe......

Hard to believe you would treat your machines better than your Chrysler product, but you probably need them more often, and they are not just toys.

That's ALL they are .....toys....especially the car....IT has no feelings so it doesn't care what brand of spark plugs are used....only the owner or his "buddies".....I think it's humerus as many of the "rabid, foaming at the mouth owners" believe that "their way" is the only way things should be....in spite of a general consensus of differing opinions.......

Maybe some idle jet/IAB tune for low rpm driving.

I can understand how you can't understand why people that have more experience in a certain area could have a broader understanding than you.
And that's cool.

By The Way (BTW), all of our grandpa's and Chrysler and pettys liked champion in the 60s. When their quality didn't suck. As much.

Frank Mopar, post #29. Do you have a link to this test?

Thanks Frank.
What a ridiculous test. 2 or 3 hp difference. Indexing the plugs, different plug gaps, could have made a difference but were not tried.

What a ridiculous assumption that DIFFERENT results can, an often do occur. Perhaps the "test" proves that ARE better plugs than NGK? It sounds as if the "test" did not provide your expected result.
