Ok, got a good one for ya, check out the pics. The round cast piece was in the dist. hole when I got the engine. The dist. of course won't go in far enough with this thing in there. It seems to fit fine going straight into the block. I got the clean (short)dist. with the engine, the greasy one( longer shaft) seems to be a standard BB. What the heck fit into this block with that adapter in place???????:edgy:

The adapter is to allow you to use the longer RB (413, 426, 440) distributor in a B (361, 383, 400) block.

You win the cookie tonight..I didn't have a clue what that was or why it was on my engine, which is a 426 wedge!!!

that came on a lot of industrial / marine engines. Even an RB engine could have it and have an extra long distributor shaft.

Interesting, never seen one like that. Is there a bushing for the shaft at the bottom end?

No, its just a cast sleeve that fits into the dist. hole to raise the dist. up.I'd hate to be looking for one of these!!!!
