I am one of those guys that want as much horse power I can get from my engines,I have 1 inch spacers that I have removed from engines that I felt did nothing for me performance wise but I have been told that they help with horsepower and torque. If so how much?

Not sure about performance, but I run a 1" phenolic spacer with a heat shield to prevent vapor lock. So it's worth it to me to have one.

depends on the engine combination & intake/carb combo on whether you'll see anything or not. i've done alot of dyno work, one spacer might pick up 10 horse on one combo but not do squat or even hurt another. there is no golden rule with spacers except experiment. open, 4 hole, super suckers, lots of different ones out there to try. can't rely on jo blow's opinion that this "particular spacer" will give you 20 horse without putting it on a dyno on your exact engine.

figure that in general,1 inch of spacer moves your intake power band up a few hundred rpms.if your intake is not enough for the rest of your eng setup, then a spacer will add some power.if your ride is spot on it could actually lower your hp.as 68 hemi gts said"it all depends on your setup".

In the Chrysler tech manual under super performance drag strip or maximum street performance it says to use a bakelite spacer under the carb among a few things to do to trick out a customers car. So if the factory said use a spacer to get more performance I would say hell yeah! lol I have a 1" phenolic spacer under my QFT-850 and it makes a difference in keeping the carb cooler and creating a larger plenum space, it had an adverse affect on my eddy 800 carb though so if you are using the stock AVS carb go with the correct upgrades based on your set up.

An open, or 4-hole MAY help. But is depends on the intake, single or dual plane. And what you are going for. Top-end, or torque?

That's why I use one under the 850 Demon. Moved and wrapped the fuel lines too.
