In 2008 I purchased my 2nd Shelby GT500
(The first one I still have, 2007 year, 199 miles on it)
Anyway, in South Cal one Sunday afternoon I was on the I-5 heading North from San Diego
A 3 hour drive home to Edwards AFB.
All of a sudden, in my left rear view mirror I see a red Viper roadster.
He starts to come up on me as I start to accelerate up from 80 to 90mph.
Then he "jumps on it" to catch me it and I down shift two gears to 4th, spool up the blower and honestly "sling-shot" away from him.
The next thing I know, I'm at 115mph approaching 120mph and this Viper is now on my rear quarter again.
We are both at 130mph and then at 140 to 143 I hit the REV limiter and that Viper just walked past me.
Old guy (I'm 62 now so this was 8 years ago, I was 54 then, he was about 70 at the time.
All I remember was: as he past me he waved, smiled and then I saw the 2 rear tires of that Viper.
-I'll never forget it...those rear tires on that Viper looked like two 55 gallon oil drums!
Yeah, Vipers are flying low under the RADAR, we should all buy one and put it in the garage!
