I had a 76 Camaro with a 350 years ago. ATF lines on the right, starter too. Oil filter on the left. Shifter cable instead of rods and bellcranks.
The heavy front suspension wasn't a great exercise in the light and strong theme that Ma Mopar adopted but hey...

GM has there engineers, they designed allot of great stuff I wish Mopar had... But Mopar engineers certainly designed more than their share of good stuff too...

I really like the GM variable ratio steering box... Kinda slow in the center 30 degrees so it feels normal during higher speed maneuvers but much quicker in slalom or parking lots where you turn the wheel further..

They haven't changed over the years either. I have a 2007 Sebring with a four banger. Changing the timing belt, water pump, all the components on that end and they have that sucker jammed up against the strut tower. The other end of the engine is wide open spaces! Doesn't make any sence.

Quite a few cars today. You have to remove the entire front clip. Just to change a radiator. I can deal with a rod missing some holes for reasons that make no sense to me. Over that other crap. It’s a nightmare to remove a starter on cars today. Old timers used to constantly make these points. I thought they were cranky complainers not wanting to adapt. Looking back now, as I’m older. Boy, were those guys accurate on their feelings. I love working on these old cars. There’s not one thing complicated about them.

For anyone crossing this thread in the future. The correct assortment part number is Dorman 41016. That’s if your rod that attaches to the lever gets smaller in diameter where the retainer clips on. I have the 1/4” rod at the lever. There are 2 different size rods that attached to the 904 over the years. If you have the slightly larger diameter rod or your rod doesn’t get smaller in diameter where the retainer clips on. The retainers I referenced are too small and will not clamp on properly. You measure the diameter of the end of the rod that enters the lever hole. To determine which size rod you have. They worked great for me.

Doesn't make any sence.[/QUOTE 2.4 timing belt change is rough, no room, cams keep moving , got a 92 3.0 v6 and you could do two of them to the one 06 2.4

Welcome to 3d engineering. There was no problem putting that timing belt and water pump on before the assembly was installed and that's all that mattered.
