Does anyone know where I can purchase an amp with an aux port?

I would like to install a hidden amp that has a aux port that has jacks for speakers. This way I can install it under the dash or on the front of the dash discretely for an iPod. I do not want a cd player.

Has anyone done this? I called Crutchfield and the customer "tech" rep. was lost.

Without doing a lot of research. I am a little behind on some of my car stereo advancements. I would say something like this adapter would do the job just fine and keep your iPod charged at the same time. Should be able to run it all behind your dash and just have the iPod connector come out wherever you would like it to. Doesn't have to be that exact one, I am just using it as an example, didn't do any research on the reliability of that brand. With the use of this, you can use any regular amp with RCA inputs.

try vintage auto radio services. they are converting my org. am 65 satellite radio to a m/ f m with aux ports @ $350.00 but they offer other options

Your posting is not very clear on what you are trying to do......usually two options on installing a sound system in an older vehicle.
1. Keep it completely stock looking and have your old radio converted over so it has aux input jacks, etc....for whateve you
want to add in the way of music sources (CD player, MPS player input...etc.....) and keep your stock speakers.
2. Replace your stock dash radio with a new more modern receiver (they have all the options for any kind of music
source that you can think of).....and your options for doing this are;
A. Purchase one with a built in amp to drive your stock speakers or new speakers.
B. Purchase one along with a seperate amp (amp can be installed anywhere in the vehicle, under seats or dash, in
trunk....etc....) along with installing new speakers or keep your old stock speakers.

As for an amplifier that has an input jack all modern day automotive amplifiers have input jacks, just a matter of how you want to use them...........best to go to a local car audio shop and have them explain all the options that you have to the point that you understand it all (not sure how into audio gear you are ) and from that point you should be able to decide what all you want to do depending on your budget.......
I would suggest (if you are not fanatic about keeping the radio stock looking) to purchase a receiver that will fit in your dash (most have an amp built in) and just use that till you can get around to installing a more powerful amplifier and new speakers later......

Hope this helps

You'll need that.

That'll buy you a left and a right spreaker. No direct 3.5MM port or USB on that amp to integrate sound across all 4 channels. You'll need to run a 6 gauge wire with fuse or circuit breaker to your battery to power that amp, as well as a remote wire from a Pos+ key on source to turn on/off the amp when you turn on/off the car. Also a heavy ground from Amp to Body.

Good luck

You will only be able to use the headphone jack on your IPOD......the inputs on the amp may not be able to work with that sort of output and also you will not have control over any tone controls or any other music source (radio, CD, etc...)

That's what this is for:

The 3.5MM jack plugs into the headphone port of the ipod, the RCA's into two pre-amp's on the amp. Ipods have an integrated adjustable equalizer, just like a head unit. Volume control and navigating would have to be done directly on the ipod. He's not looking for a CD player, and all the newer ipods have a built in FM Radio.

I'd just go with a decent deck (no CD), probably put out the same or more watts RMS and have 4-6 channels for close to the same cost, but.....his money, his car, his preference and he wouldn't have to worry about hiding the deck.

Unless you like extra adapters and wiring for charging said iPod hanging from your cig lighter, the item Plumcrazy posted would be best.

I like that Bluetooth amp, pretty slick.

I just did the same thing and decided to pick up a decent EQ. Hooked the EQ to the amp and plugged the ipod directly into the eq. Put the EQ in my glove box, this way I have a volume knob other than the ipod. Works great.

Here's the eq I picked, pretty cheap and has great reviews for a budget eq. Also, has another aux input, front and rear amp outputs as well as a separate sub output. Plus it acts as a low pass filter that you can tune for your sub. Small enough where it fits in my glove box with only cutting a small hole for the wires.

Btw, I ran a 10 foot ipod cable along the floor under the passenger seat. That way it's plenty long enough so I can change songs from the drivers seat, but the cable tucks neatly under the passenger seat when not in use. I'll post pics a little later next week, it's still not all in yet.

Quick Question HT413...How was your dealings with Sonic Electronix? Was looking at picking up a couple things from them?

Prop, I've purchased from them a number of times...not an authorized dealer on anything I've bought, so def no warranty from the manufacturer, not sure about from them, as everything I've gotten has never had an issue.

The only thing I've bought from them was the EQ, and haven't had to return anything, so no idea on customer service. But they delivered promptly and it came in one piece, so I have nothing bad to say at all.

the only thing vintage radio told me is I can't use my reverbe speaker system. It will blow the elect. in the new radio.

It's important to know what your speaker system is. Stock? Stock radio? If stock, year of vehicle?

The reason this is ultra important is that the 60's early/mid 70's (and all earlier) cars used a "universal ground" audio system. Meaning that the speakers all used the chassis as ground, as did the radio. --- Not to be confused with grounding modern equipment to the chassis.

If you try to hook a relatively modern (last 35+ years) amp to this it will short the amp, and maybe much more.

What you are trying to do is fairly easy, but I need to know what your system is.
