Understand I have two cars that are considered classic. 1 Mopar & 1 Ford. The ford is a drag truck that was willed to me by my brother in law. It was chevyed out so I plan to put it back to all ford drive train and end it's racing days. The problem is it seems that every person that drives through our little town ask's if it's for sale which the answer is always no, even with a "not for sale" sign in it!. It happened again today and always the same thing, they ring the bell and knock on the door which sets my dogs off. I'm usually asleep as my wife works nights and they come around noon. The worst part of this "game" is they then offer me like $500.00 for it. The engine, trans, front suspension and rear four link are worth at least $2000.00 since it is all race equipment. I then tell them, again, it's not for sale and then they try to convince me it would be better off with them; this usually ends with me slamming the door in their face.
I have seen this more and more since the hot rod flipper type shows have hit the air waves. I just wish they would take no for the answer.

Sorry for the rant
Thomas

Need to put that thang in back or inside. I like the part where you said, you were going to end it's racing days by putting the Ford back in it.

Yeah that would piss me off too. How about some photo's thomas?

As someone who's knocked on such doors before I try to do it in a manner that's more sensitive to the current owner. No low ball offers, no trying to convince someone that it would be better off with me.

If I see a sign on it that says "not for sale" I'll take that sign for it's word. That alone should be enough to tell people to back off of it. But, people are rude and see only themselves in this world.

Hide it, best option next to a sign that says not for sale and please do not ask. I work nights and I'm trying to catch up on sleep. This, I have to do.

This happens to us here at the Body Shop quite a bit. Usually when we have customers cars sitting out front, or moving our own stuff around the shop. I try not to get annoyed because I'm one of those "door knockers".
However, I only do it when I see a car laid up in someones field for a long time, neglected, w/ no plates etc. I always take the "not for sale" sign seriously.

Put a not for sale sign on it big and clear and a warning about dogs.. should take care of most of it.... except for guys like from kounting cars

If they come to the door and become pesty, take their picture and call the police, it's that simple! In my younger days I didn't use ANY wisdom and would 'engage' folks if they we're paying attention to my line of communication, nonetheless, with age (Sometimes) brings some form of wisdom...or so they say, whoever 'THEY' are?!

Take your for sale sign, poke a bunch of little holes in it, then add trespassers will be shot in the *** as you're running away. LOL

Put a sign next to it that says you would sell the truck for $500,000.oo That's how much this truck means to me.

there's a place a few miles from me on a back road. instead of the usual no tresspassing signs, he has ones that say "If you can read this you are in range", and there are a couple holes in the signs.....

Hey, easy on them Fords, but I'll admit that's a pretty funny observation!

I have bought a couple of cars sitting on a driveway but they didn't have Not For Sale signs in them. WTF?? I have a hemi Charger I want to sell and I'm a little disappointed that no one is knocking on my door. Send them my way.

+1. And put a sign on your front door/porch that says "TRUCK NOT FOR SALE!", right under the usual "NO SOLICITERS" & "NO TRESPASSING" signs. If they still can't get the hint , sick the dogs on 'em, lol.

Put a car cover on it. Problem solved.

put a for sale sign on it with a high price and the word firm, this will keep most of them away.

Take it as a compliment, must be nice if everybody wants it but yes, that would get old quick.
