The intent was to go look at the advertised 400 shortblock. First thing I see is a nice old D100 that certainly could be restored. Pulled up to the shed where I hear someone working, but I cannot take my eyes off the 1969 Coronet wagon, grille and all panels intact.

So I go over to the shed and there's what I came for, a 400 shortblock. Stored in the shed for 20 years there's a half-inch of dust on top of the valley tray. The guy tells me that he remembers the crank being froze-up, but if so and the block is no good, I can have the police 400 that is in the Imperial next to the 69 Coronet.

Once I overcome the tunnel vision on the 400 I realize I am standing next to a 68 Coronet 440 and ask about it. He tells me its a parts car.

So that begs the question, a parts car for what? He points in the opposite direction to the numbers matching 1968 Super Bee 2 door post, 383 w/727. "It needs floors but everything is there." "It was abandoned out on the highway in '74' and towed to the junkyard. That's where I got it."

Like lots of folks the fella has more plans than time, but is a real mopar gear-head and real nice guy at that. With two strokes and a heart-attack he is looking to sell off some stuff.
I paid 43 dollars for the 400 shortblock, and will likely trade a rear-end and some heads for the police 400. I am not really in the market for the 68 Super Bee but cannot stop thinking about it, especially with the availability of the parts car. I have some questions about the 400 but will start another thread for that.
