My Test&Tune at Famoso went well this last weekend.

I went personal best 10.609 @ 124.45 with a 1.479 60'

I had previously sold my INDY Dual Plane and bought an Edelbrock Victor 440 Single Plane with the 4150 carb base.

I installed the new Edelbrock Victor Single Plane with my same 850 Demon Carb and Wilson CNS Tapered Spacer.

My best run with the INDY Dual Plane had been 10.989. I installed the Edelbrock Victor 440 Single Plane (no other changes, same 850 Demon and Wilson Spacer) and went 10.914. A .075 (3/4 of a tenth better ET from the manifold change.)

Then I took off the 850 Demon and Wilson Spacer and bolted on my TransDapt 4500 to 4150 carburetor adapter to fit my new 1050 DOMINATOR onto my Edelbrock Victor 440 Single Plane.

RUN WITH 850 DEMON:
10.914

FIRST RUN WITH DOMINATOR:
10.609 @ 124.45

SECOND RUN WITH DOMINATOR:
10.616

THIRD RUN WITH DOMINATOR:
10.656

FOURTH RUN WITH DOMINATOR:
10.613

FOUR RUNS WITH THE DOMINATOR WITHIN .047 OF EACH OTHER.
The Dominator was "Out of the Box" with NO changes...just bolted it on.
Primary: 84 Jets with 5.5 Power Valve
Secondary: 94 Jets.

Balance of Setup:
50% 91 Pump Gas / 50% Torco 110 Race Gas
34 degress Timing, all in at 2400 (MSD)
Launched at 3000RPM off Foot Brake (5000 Flash Converter)
16lbs Air in M/T DOT Bias Ply Street Legal Slicks
4.30 Dana Spool
Cal Trac Mono Leafs
Cal Trac 9 Way Adj RR Shocks Set on 9
Cal Trac 90/10 FRT Shocks
Indy SEZ Heads with Standard Ports (NOT Max Wedge Size) Flowing 290
Edelbrock Victor 440 Single Plane Intake Manifold (NON-Max Wedge Ports)
1 7/8" Hooker Headers
12.2-1 Compression
Autolite 3923 Plugs gapped at .042
Comp .600 lift Solid Lifter cam Plus 1.6 Rockers

Mallory 140 Pump with Return Style Mallory Regulator with -6AN lines throughout
505" Inch with Ohio CrankShaft Rotating Assemby/H-Beam Rods/SRP Forged Pistons/440 Source Steel Billet Girdle/440 Source Steel Billet Main Caps
3750 pound car with me in it and 5 gallons of gas

I have listed all this info to share with everyone for your own new builds or tuneups.

I could NOT believe the carb change gave me 3/10th of a second lower ET.

A 3/10th of a second increase with only the Dominator change. I am a believer when guys say that 500" big block Mopars want MORE AIR.

Now...Next Outing I will run 100% 110 Race Gas (not 50/50 pump/race) and set the timing from 34 to 37 and I am sure I can put the sled into the 10.50 time slip area.

Way to go Mike. Congrats on getting your car into the 10.60's

What was that D Gas index?? 10.60?? Hmmmmm

Looks like a plan is coming together.

Awesome effort Mike . Great to see such a good result . Have to get playing with my 1050 .

Tex

Nice pick up Mike. Was contemplating switching to a dominator on my 512. How much clearance do you have from carb to scoop and what inch spacer are you running. I know the victor intake is pretty tall.
I have a similar scoop on my 67 so if I can come up w/a good intake for my set up may take the plunge as I'm switching to e85 anyways.

Mike, great to hear. I've been waiting in the bushes to see this post! My son and I was going to build a 470-b but I said hell wth that and working on a 512 now and I"ve been having a hard time on either the 850,950 quickfuel or 1050 dom. Great info and you have a Supreme Car and great posts.

Very cool! Always wonder what a little more cfm will do. You`ll be into the low tens in no time!

Great mike , keep on choppin that tree

I have 2.5 inches of scoop clearance BUT I had to fab a "spacer" for my hood scoop to raise it 2.5" otherwise the carb would hit the hood. I now need to buy a 5" 1966 Hemi style scoop from VFN ( same style as mine only much taller. The 4500 to 4150 adapter adds 2" to the already tall Victor 440.

Mike,
I will be there Saturday March 5th
I will take pics of you and the car...

Great news Mike. I know your car has been steadily going over to strip only duty, but how about the street manners of that 1050 you think it would work?

2quick I drive my Quick Fuel 1050 Dominator on the street without any problems. It's on a 500" 440, pump gas 10:1 motor!
