Donny's 1969 Satellite

X-2 Roger, Sounds like hes pumped about some brand NEW AMD metal, Good luck Donny, ive gone over your thread again this evening, you sure do great work, i cant wait to see it in color! Even black AMD metal right now :)

Glad you got the new metal and are moving forward on this project Donny. It sure was exiting for me everytime a piece of new metal left my floor and was installed on the car. Your work is second to none - I'm anxious to see this one come together. That T5 is going to look great.

New AMD Sheetmetal has arrived! Oh yeah, and I got some new AMD metal for this car, did I mention I got me some NEW AMD panels, a HUGE pile of stuff? One more thing, I got some NEW AMD metal! In case you have not heard the news...

hey did you ever get your AMD metal?:toothy12:

Here it is...still wrapped up, not unboxed the qtrs yet. Gotta finish this Mustang for a customer, get the Dodge truck off to Upholstery, get the new arrival 69 roadrunner blasted, then, onto installation!

When my truck load of AMD metal was dropped off I was told to unpack everything to inspect for damage. So the 20 year old kid driving the semi spent about a half hour helping me do this. He got a kick out of it saying these old Mopars are his favorite muscle cars of all time.

Indeed I have freed up some time for my car! I spent the afternoon today cutting out the old right side outer wheelhouse, trim, or bend back the lapped in webbing (other things) that covered the outer wheelhouse welds, cleaned up those areas from weld remnants, set in the new wheelhouse where it 'should' go, not where it will go, or end up...then got my helper to help me install the right side quarter panel! I had to cut back the area of roof as this lap was not letting the qtr slide up in there (no problem, just weld it back on). Put the trunk floor extension on too, put some clamps on the qtr. Loosened up the inner wheelhouse, let it fall into place (closed up the wheel lip moulding) re-adjusted the wheelhouse, re-clamped it in, set some sheetmetal screws to the wheelhouse, and started to do some clamping! I need more Vise Grips, like 20 more!

I'm going to hang the door here too before I weld anything in.

Glad you got the one side hung. You'll probably have both of them on before I get a chance to order and get my skins. So I will be watching yours going on with what tricks you know to get them right to apply putting on mine.

Its coming off again, gotta weld on the inner wheelhouse, and the other inside guts I pulled back, and or cut off aiding easy wheelhouse installation. I figure why fight it when I can just cut it off, then re-weld it on?

Game plan is screw it all together, doors on, other side same thing. Then, trunk lid, actually, before multiple screws holding it all together, I got to get that trunk lid aligned, and, the struts off the inner wheelhouses need to be installed. THAT is going to be the challenging area(s). Got to have the deck lid opening properly between qtr panels, doors shut correctly, and tail panel set on correctly too. Got some hours in front of me for sure!

Awesome! Looks like Christmas around that joint. All kinds of fun to come...Good to see the Satty getting some love!

I wondered why me ears perked up this morning.... :happy3:

The local pawn shop and Harbor Freight Tool is your best friend for cheap welding clamps at a time like this. Not sure if I’m ready to let go of my friends yet.

I'm going to the store in a day or two to get me some more Vise Grips, can't have enough!

Messed around a bit more today, hung the door, and perfect, just minimal adjustments needed, made them, and I'm stunned how 'aligned' everything is!
