Media Blasting slowed down a bit this past week, had some time to tend to my stuff, clean up, re-organize, get focused, take inventory where I am, and where I need to go, and how long to get there. I pulled the car out, washed it, turned it around so the pipes aimed out the door -- hired/arranged a local MOPAR mechanic who specializes in our old cars (he too is a local MOPAR nut) to come by and tidy up the wiring and get me/car that boost to get it running. Once it's running, I can move it around, put some tags on it, drive it, work it, fix the small stuff etc.
On a thread I saw, but didn't contribute (and can't locate) there was something about Hack Jobs, well, part of my inventory process today was surveying my handiwork circa 1999; amazingly bad stuff...so bad I would never want to put it out there on display; and, work I will touch up/fix it up, but not re-do!
Trunk on this car, it had pin holes after sandblasting, yes, I said sand, this was before I got into Media Blasting, I hired a local guy to sandblast parts of it, the trunk was one area, why I didn't realize sand would end up in the back seat I don't know!!!
Also, the trunk, the pin holes, jeesh, what a fix up job I did on that back then! Ok, here's the deal, I used masking tape to tape the holes up, then used fiberglass resin on top of the holes! I know, this is insane, and, I laugh my *** off at my own 'work' from 10+ years ago, here's some pics...enjoy! The fuselage styling is kind of cool to look at from some angles.
The lower qtr weld-in outer still impresses me, did that about 2002, however the inner area is sort of rough. I put the 1 1/4 socket on the crank and spun it over three revolutions, spins easy enough, feel the compression in this 440 TnT. Notice the fender tag numbers! Y12=sold car, my grandfather ordered it this way!
