Doug's vs TTI headers

My current Hooker Super Comps are looking pretty shabby and need replaced. Looking for input from those who have Doug's on their B bodies (mines a 69 Charger). The Hookers fit really well except for 2 things, they hang too low and it would be nice if the exit was actually aimed at the cross member hump. I know from reading on here that the TTI's are above and beyond for fitment BUT when I'm looking at a grand... stainless starts to look very appealing. So my question is, how far down do the stainless Doug's hang and are there any other issues?

A 3rd possible option is Summits self branded ceramic coated headers, my experience with their self branded parts is that they're typically made by a top brand company and they look a lot like Hookers for half the price of TTI's.

I had the same conundrum of price vs. features, and after blowing through several sets of cheaper headers I was ready for TTIs, but the price! I bought the Dougs. They hang high and don't scrape anything, ever! I love the look, love the scavenging, love the fit (easy installation, no burned plug wires), and especially love that I won't be replacing them anytime soon, if ever! P.S. Yes, get them ceramic coated.

Why not a custom set?
Low cost and competitive quality.
These cost me $320.00.
Have a set on a Jeep CJ from the
same builder installed more than
20 years ago. Zero issues

Not everyone has a custom header shop nearby to have the headers fitted too, I don't. I'd be really surprised if they could build a set that cheap for a B Body, takes a lot more work to fit them in a B Body than a Jeep. Jeep looks very cool, nice.

Headers on a Jeep is quite the project
given the space constraints are
limited to inside the frame and run
to the rear.
The set in the pics is on a 440 in a
1940 Plymouth truck. (custom tube
chassis).
PM me if you'd like a reputable source
for a custom built quality header.
Guaranteed he's run across B Body
builds before.

I just installed the Summit brand coated headers on my 70 GTX 440. I got them from the scratch and dent table for about 25% of what a new set costs. Someone had tried to install them on something else and returned them, because they had several scratches on them but were never bolted to a head. Nothing major and this car is a driver not a show queen. The right side went in easy peasy. The left side was a major PITA. Had to remove the right side, take both mounts loose and raise the engine with hoist and push to right side. After getting in and setting the engine down the #3 tube was hard against the TB in multiple places. Removed it and massaged it with a piece of pipe and hammer so it would miss the TB. The starter won't go in from the bottom, and to get it in from the top you have to remove the steering column. They do have good road clearance (only good thing) , but the left side is not even close to the hump in the TB cross member and will take some major exhaust fitment to clear everything. So no I would not recommend the Summit brand. I live 5 min from the store is why I buy stuff from scratch and dent table, but they are nonreturnable. But a $1000 set of headers for $250 will get me through the installation headaches.

I have had multiple sets of TTis', all went in fine no interference with the steering box or suspension parts.
But I would recommend going the ceramic coating. I know there are cheaper headers available but since TTi is local in Corona, CA
I went to their factory, saw their quality manufacturing process and talked with their tech crew, that locked it down for me...
Now 8 years later the ceramic coated headers still look fine..

Just my $0.02...

TTI. Long lasting. Slammed and out doors. Ceramic. $$$
