Hey folks,

Don't know why this popped into my head, but I suddenly needed to know how far the Moon is from Earth. And in case you didn't know, it's

238,900 miles away...

meaning that most of us have driven the equivalent distance there, and probably back as well in our cars. How many times have you driven the distance in your life? I personally estimate I've driven the equivalent of... about two full round trips to the moon in 24 years behind the wheel.

:3gears:

240,000 miles
Give or take a uneven wobble in it's orbit
Sometimes it's like 237,500+

Thats lots of driving...
I wonder "WHO" has the most "documented miles?
Millions of miles I suppose ...

I suppose some of these "old time" NASCAR drivers have racked up a few miles BUT the "Over The Road" trucker HAS to be the champion.

I've been driving since 1974 when I was ........... 9. Yeah I know. I even had to have blocks tied on the pedals of the truck so I could reach them. So I've probably been to the moon a time or two.

From a blog:

There are 3.24 million truck drivers in the U.S., according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
The average daily run for a long-haul, over-the-road truck driver is nearly 500 miles.
Most long-haul, over-the-road truck drivers average from 100,000 to 110,000 miles per year.

WOW, that adds up for a 24 year period...

Been driving since feb 1989. Running outlaw for the first part. So i figured i've surpassed the 2 million mile mark and about halfway to the 3 million mile mark.

"Boom to the moon Alice", to quote Jakie Gleason....LOL... I've been driving since 1974 too, but I was 15 when I legally started, I drove/rode way before that, maybe 1965 or so, mini bikes, bicycles, go carts, motorcycles, tractors, farm trucks, backhoes, horses, cattle, Pigs, Dads cars, Moms cars, Sisters cars, Brothers cars, etc..... But when I was in the construction/dealership business & working allot 60k miles per truck a year I had probably around 20+ new trucks over the many years, from 1975-2002, haven't got anything new since 2002, my 1999 Dakota 4x4 only has 54k my 2002 4x4 F350 has 95k.... Let me see lets break this down... When I was racing regularly, I would drive across country several time a year, from Cali. to where ever & back to Cali., stopping in different areas for match races along the route both ways, that was from 1981-1997ish, probably near 40k a year average for the Tow rig & trailer alone, some of those miles after that, I paid 2 people to drive my rig back & forth & I would fly to & from Cali. & where ever the races were at... Then prior to that in July 1975 when I turned 16-from then until 1981 just mostly the West Coast from Seattle to San Diego east to Boise, Phoenix some times, Denver, maybe 15k a year so that = 6 years at 15k= 90k + 17 years at 40k = 680k + 60K a year for work for 20+ years=1.2 million = a low grand total of 1,970,000+ miles very conservatively & probably much more, especially since I haven't included any RV/Trailer fun trips or rental cars when out of state, misc. BS to the stores & back in my personal 4x4 vehicles, I'm on my 61 Muscle-Car/26 Race cars, who knows how many miles, I've put on all of those... which is easily 4.1, maybe more, round trips to the moon...LOL...

thats a great zep tune and not easy to play.she is a ROCK.....you can set your watch to her playing....no click track either..i would have loved to play with someone like that. drummers are all over the place....a GOOD drummer is extremely hard to find!

She's a real cutie pie too. I don't think she's but like 16. I bet her parents are proud as can be. Kalee Reading is her name. Check out the other videos she's in. Some of them the rest of the band SUCKS but she's the shining star.

Oh no, we've been mooned!

Adding to #17: Harvest moon is an excellent Neil Young album and title track song.

Oh, and don't forget Moon Eyes or Moon Equipped. You know there is a pic somewhere showing Keith Moon with a Moon Equipped T shirt on.

Oh, and the Doors song Moonlight Drive with the lyric verse "let's swim to the moon uh-huh...."

Not counting several other cars I had, but I drove nearly half way there in my 68 Mustang GT over a 9 yr period. Then got there and now heading back in my 02 Durango. Only 217,900 miles to go.

I've been doing around 30000 miles per year for the last 9 years so thats 270,000 miles. I'm not counting the other 33 years of driving before that.

I've been driving since 1974 when I was ........... 9. Yeah I know. I even had to have blocks tied on the pedals of the truck so I could reach them. So I've probably been to the moon a time or two.
