Drive you show quality car

Skyman that is one beautiful GTX and I am sure you are proud to take it out and let others enjoy it also. I don't know if I would be comfortable driving a car as expensive as yours regularly, but I don't have that problem. My car is not anywhere near as rare or valuable as your car, but does represent a large amout of blood, sweat, and cash that I put into the car over the past 15 years. I drive my car to different cruises, shows, etc. and enjoy each mile we roll up on it. The Wife understands that if I can't find a place to park that I am comfortable with, we won't be stopping in or I'll be at the car when she goes to do whatever we stopped for. I do get a little nervous leaving it parked overnight in hotel parking lots, but what are you gonna do. I wouldn't own a car that I wouldn't drive!

If I had the money to get or build a SHOW CAR, mostly sure would have money to have another car ( it can be a classic too, another Mopar mostly sure ) to drive it daily AND the show car just to make an ocassional drive. But since I don't, I built my car for daily drive it

I have even thought someday get PERFECTLY cloned cars one to drive it and other one to shows.

I understand where you are coming from and your scenerio could happen, but you could also have a massive heart attack for no reason or be hit by a bus as often said. I have MS and I can't worry about stuff like that anymore. I have a whole different take on things now. You see other folks with serious issues and feel bad for them. Believe me it can be you tomorrow. My situation ended a career I loved and I can't drive anymore because it also damged my eyesight, so I am going to enjoy life the best I can for what ever time I have. I don't mean to be stupid, I just am saying put things in perspective. I will not give up my cars.

skyman, Some times its great to here words that are so helpful. I hope you enjoy the heck out of it! There's no assurance of the next day, time is something we should not waste, enjoy what you have.. Thanks for posting this!

All you guys have great cars. I wish I could still wrench on them like you. There are two more shows or cruises this year. One is at a local community college. It is a show all on macadam by class and flea market. I will be sitting by the car in my chair. The other is a tradition called the Frostbite Run. It is Thanksgiving morning at a historic house. Also a must go. After those two the car will be tucked away for the winter.

I'm with you on this. If my car is on a trailer it's either broken or stolen lol. More likely stolen as I can fix most things.

This was stripped down to bare metal in 1993 and restored. Since then it's had several engine trans combinations up until its current 572hemi and auto. I've welded in roll bars and subframe connectors added cal-tracs and race shocks, dual batteries relocated to the trunk, etc. We even beat up the trans tunnel with a sledge to clear the overdrive. I drive it regularly and race it when I can. Looks stock, goes fast.

I am restoring mine with driving in mind on purpose. Not a rotisserie resto, single stage cheaper paint, and as much undercoating underneath to cover things up as possible. I plan to drive this thing to work 50% of the time during the spring, summer and fall. If somebody nails me and totals the car I collect the insurance money and buy another one. As most have said, life is too short not to enjoy it and I sure as hell haven't spent the last year cutting and welding metal so it can sit in my garage.

Sonny loves to drive the heck out of his '63 and still win local "shows" 4 class winners 1 peoples choice award this year and 2 or 3 shows last year..(most show have 200 - 500 cars...or more)
not really brag, but still drive it, that is what it's for....DRIVING. have yet to get a(BEST OF SHOW)
at a large car show.

& look how happy that silly bast*ard is!

I didn't build my car to be in shows. I built it to drive it, and it's my daily driver every Friday-Sunday and now that it's getting cooler I'm thinking Thursday should become classified as a weekend day. Is my car "show quality"? I guess that depends on who you ask.

I drive mine every day everywhere and have put over 5k miles since the engine swap in June! Sure it's "just a clone" but thats what they were built for! It's like therapy for me, hopping behind the wheel, steering with my right food....

My car is every bit a show car being a rotisserie resto and I drive it as often as I can. Never trailered to a show, never left me stranded either...biggest pain is keeping the flat black clean but it's worth the smiles and miles as folks have said.

i drive...that's my "therapy". If mine was #'s matching, rotisserie resto'd, as opposed to a clone...i would still drive it..i just might think twice about where i would park it.

Tpodwdog thinks Sonny should have built his garage with the studs on 16" centers and not 24" centers. at least they stacked the roof trusses over the studs on the bearing walls ....and yes.... that silly bastard does look quite happy...( sorry sonny,,,i hadda bust ya balls on the studs )....I LOOOVE THAT CARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

That is just one room in sonny's garage....yea I know it is "Mickey Mouse"...but...I......have 3 cars in it...
...I have "plans"......(also my X-FIRE)
BUT, prob' never happen....

BTW: I am not too handy with tools, love to build and fix stuff BUT sometimes make more trouble!
I have a job that keeps me too clean!...rather be in the garage!
