Watching this skid factory on YouTube and they were dry ice blasting parts got me to wondering if anybody ever heard of dry ice blasting? Has anybody dealt with it? What's your results? Good or bad

Maintenance used it at my work to clean a pump. The grease off the pump went everywhere

We used it at G.E. to blast electric motor rotors and stators and generator fields. Knocked off all of the crud
and there was no mess to clean up afterwords because the dry ice just sublimated to the atmosphere. If there
is grease or oil, it freezes it and knocks it off. Won't take heavy rust off but won't harm rubber or plastics. It's a
great environmental solution for blasting but the equipment is expensive. You can't blast electrical equipment
with aluminum oxide or particulates that will imbed themselves or short out connections. Dry Ice is the magic
bullet. There are some YouTube videos of people blasting the underneath of cars and you can see the before
and after.

Yes. Used it in the nuclear industry for decontamination of equipment. Don’t need supplied air, just good HEPA ventilation. Typically 2000 CFM in a smaller enclosure works fine.

Saw dry ice blasting being demonstrated at work several years ago at work to clean off mold release residu build up on molds to cast urethane foam parts. Worked great! But the boss didn't want to spend the money . Anyways it was being used outdoors and the operator did not use a respirator at all.

Usually you just need a resperator. So much air is being used to propel the ice particles that it's very
minimal Co.
