One of our local cruise spots is closing today, they had their final cruise last night... Sad to see them close as they have been around for many decades and was the place to cruise on weekends in the 70's and 80's...

They really used to bring a crowd and the parking lot was always packed... Last night was almost like the old days, but they used to bring in more every Fri and Sat night... The culture back in the day was to work on your car during the week and go to Dukes on weekends if it didn't rain on those days...

Lot of nice cars. It's sad it's ending, I see that type of thing happening at a lot of places.

Here are some shots of the crowd that was there... Like I said, they used to bring at least twice this many people every Fri and Sat back in the 80's...

Here's part of the reason that Street Outlaws show got their asses handed to them when they came to town... These local guys are serious don't play around...

Here is the engine from the station wagon in the picture above... They really like to put monster motors in plain looking cars...

Yes, it's a shame... They really used to pack them in back in the 80's, you sometimes had to park 3 blocks away the parking lot was so full...

Then in the mid 80's there was a bad accident at the street races which were people from Dukes... They would meet at Dukes and set up the races, then after Duke's closed at 10 PM they would go out to one of the 3 - 4 spots and run... One time a Buick GSX and a Camaro with nitrous raced and the guy in the Camaro used nitrous off the line and lost control and took out a few spectators... After that the cops cracked down hard on street racing (a $2500 fine if you were caught)....

After that, cruising at Duke's died down and they didn't draw the crowd that they used to...

Sad it's closing like many country wide. What will the kids do with zero cruise spots left it's a shame. In Phoenix we get Central Ave shut down twice a year for a cruise and my kids still look forward to it. But what a great turn out for the business it's to bad it had to close to bring out the cars. Thanks for the pics

Great turn out! It's hard to take decent pictures at night in those lighting conditions.

Love those gassers, especially the Olds F-85. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. There was some heavy duty iron in those photos.... BTW, what is this?? Morris Minor?? Anyone know? I just noticed one that's been parked in my neighborhood... have to grab a pic.

Too cool! Whenever I go to something like that, there's maybe 5 classic Mopars....and that's if I take mine...
