Looks like a great time. Thanks for sharing, and sad to see it come to an end.
Awesome, thanks for sharing. There was some heavy duty iron in those photos.... BTW, what is this?? Morris Minor?? Anyone know? I just noticed one that's been parked in my neighborhood... have to grab a pic. View attachment 827393
Too cool! Whenever I go to something like that, there's maybe 5 classic Mopars....and that's if I take mine...
Awesome pics and thanks. To bad the place is closing down. Sounded like a fun place to hang with the cars and the girls.
Thanks for the pics, and I have a few of my own from Friday night. Didn't go on Saturday because the
weatherman said it was supposed to rain! Oh well. We all used to hang out about three blocks north of
there at White Castle back in 1972. The manager of that store, her name was Mary, hated us and wanted
us gone. In 1975 Duke, passed through the parking lot one night and said he had heard of our problems
and said that he had bought the old Bridgeview drive in and when he opened up we were welcome to
come and hang out there. Well, we packed up our **** and moved up the street. We had Sharp Ford guys,
Sharp Chevy guys, and Sharp Mopar guys. We could tell pretty much what a guy had under his hood
even if he didn't open it. Crawl underneath and look for oil cooler fittings, size of the harmonic balancer,
etc. Contrary to what it said on the T-shirts, we were Not the fastest, we were knowledgeable and careful.
Sure, we had some fast cars, at that time a friend of mine and myself raced a 482 cu. in. Camaro. It ran
10.18 at the track, and 9.62 with the bottle. We raced it out of Dukes either out on 107th, or 159th & Bell
Road. Made a lot of good friends there and will never forget them. Anyway, the bad news is that the old
Dukes is closing. The good news is that they're moving to 87th and Harlem Ave., just up the street. I heard
that they should be open by Nov. 1st! Here we go again!View attachment 827476 View attachment 827477 View attachment 827478 View attachment 827479 View attachment 827480 View attachment 827481 View attachment 827482 View attachment 827483 View attachment 827484 View attachment 827485
